Don't you hate it when you are reading one thing that seems like it's going to be this fun and neat thing and then it turns into something entirely different in the comments, resembling a bitchfest more than anything else, and you feel completely criticized even though you didn't even take part in the discussion at all and are just reading, and it totally bums you out for the rest of the day?  Fandom, why are you the way you are?

I may, of course, be overreacting to everything in life as I hurt my bad knee and it swelled up to the size of a cantaloupe and I went to the doctor and he withdrew 15 cc's of fluid and then shot me up with cortizone.  Will this never be over?

At least school is out.  No more 7 a.m. drop offs until September.

I am going to go bury myself in my writing.

[livejournal.com profile] sunfall_e, I will try to do that by the end of the month.  I had totally forgotten I had never finished it.

I bought seasons one and two of Fringe today.  This will make the rewatch much easier.  I hope it has commentaries and extras. Spoilers )

1.  People who do not use their blinkers to signal their intentions on the freeway during rush hour.

2.  People who tailgate when you are already going 5 mph over the speed limit and there is NO ONE in the passing lane, conditions are good, and they still will not pass you.

3.  People who pass you and then proceed to slow down to 5 mph slower than the speed limit.

4.  People that pass a semi-truck (lorry for you Brits) and do not give them enough room so that they have to slam on their brakes and fishtail, risking every other life on the freeway.

5.  People entering traffic who are supposed to yield but refuse to.

Can you tell I had to drive on the freeway today?

Also, to not leave things on a totally negative note, seen on a t-shirt in the high school parking lot:

Haikus are easy
But they don't always make sense
Refrigerator

I will be glad when school is out.

I appear to be over my writer's block (or perhaps canon cockblock is a better term).  Things are coming along slowly but surely.

I am rewatching Fringe. Spoilers if you've not seen Fringe and intend to watch it which you really should, I mean come on, JJ Abrams out Josses Joss )

Why are there not more Fringe/Doctor Who Pete's World crossover fics?  The setup is perfect, much better than some of the ones I've seen for other shows.

Oh, my gosh, Netflix, what have you done?  Hate, hate, hate, hate, hate the new layout.  Hate the rolling titles.  If it ain't broke, don't fix it.  What were you thinking?!  This does not in any way, shape or form make things easier for the user.  It's just flashy nonsense you don't need.

Does anyone have any experience with Tyler Rodan purses?  I've never heard of the brand before, but it looks to be solidly made.  It's a little pricey so before I buy it, I was hoping someone had one and could tell me if it's a good brand or not.  It has a long shoulder strap and it attaches through buckles instead of sewn directly into the purse.  And it's big enough for all my stuff without being huge.

...of a really good shampoo for oily hair?  Seems all they make these days are things to put more moisture into your dry or damaged hair and that's the last thing I need.  Also, I would prefer something that doesn't volumize hair at all.  My hair is super thick as it is and does not need that kind of help.  I don't care about price so much as performance.  And if it's a salon type shampoo, where it is purchased at.  And if I'm allowed to be picky I would prefer either clear or white shampoo, nothing that has been dyed (but I'll take anything at this point).  Scented is okay.

Ficcy Stuff

I am thinking about writing a third poem for the narrative poetry challenge at [livejournal.com profile] then_theres_us.  This is a bad idea for my writing schedule.  I adore poetry and it's been so much fun. It would be a happy one this time, but I don't know.  If you haven't been over there reading what's coming out of this challenge you should go, even if poetry isn't your cup of tea.  True you will probably be a sobbing wreck from all the delicious ANGST coming boiling out of the comm at the moment, but it's worth it. *laughs*  So much good stuff.  And some of it from folks who haven't posted anything ficcy in ages.

I keep telling myself that two is probably enough and I really want to finish this chapter of Three Hour Tour, I'm 1000 words into the next chapter of Leap of Faith and I'm halfway through the next chapter of You're What? so I ought to do that if I'm going to keep procrastinating THT.  I've also been eyeing Vortex and Tumbles with that sort of I ought to finish those, shouldn't I? sort of thing going on.  But mostly I'd like to work on THT.  If anyone has seen my smut!muse can you kick her in the butt and send her back to me, please?  And still no Zeppelins'verse muse.  I may need to reread that entire fic again.  Or just the plot parts which should cut out, oh, 50,000 words or so of smut and character development. *snerks*

I guess I should be happy that I'm just writing so much again.  It feels good and right.  I did, btw, hit 50,000 words during NaNo month, just not on anything goalish.  *rolls eyes*  Yes, me, I love deadlines and the sound they make as they go whistling past.  I should have figured the attempt was stupid.  No, wait, I did.  I write what I want to write when I want to write it.  Trying to force things just doesn't work for me and I knew this about me, but wanted to try it anyway.  Oh, well.  Lesson learned.

Am thinking of writing a sequel to I Believe in Santa Claus (here if anyone wants to get in the Christmas spirit a bit early:  http://amberfocus.livejournal.com/177974.html) called All I Want for Christmas where Nine actually takes Rose to the planet North Pole mentioned in the first fic.  I may or may not make it part of the Romance-a-thon.  There are a couple of prompts that would fit.  Just not sure whether or not it would be blatantly shippy or just sweet fluff like the first one.  We shall see, I suppose.

I am so tired of being sick.  Staying in bed all the time except to get up and get the kids to and from school is not fun (though it does aid my writing).  This latest bit with the food not staying down is painful and annoying.  I hate stomach bugs.  At least the Chinese food seems to be staying down (Sesame chicken and egg flower soup) because I sure as heck can't cook at the moment.  Oh, speaking of food not staying down, found a good new fic (so far) from an unknown (to me, looks relatively new) author that has a married Ten/Rose getting amnesia while Rose is pregnant (hence the food not staying down part) and they wake up in the TARDIS having lost the last three years and they wake up with Gallifreyan wedding rings on and are trying to figure out what the hell is going on and the Doctor just scanned Rose's stomach and it ended.  I'm hooked.  I love this subgenre of the amnesia storyline (wrote one myself once). *laughs*  2 chapters so far:  http://www.whofic.com/viewstory.php?sid=39672  It's a sequel, but there's enough info in the first chapter to catch you up if you don't have the time to read them without feeling any loss.  I'm going to go read the other two just because I liked this one so much.  A few (very few) tense shifts I noticed, but no blatant typos, so yay.

Okay, I am going to beta fic tomorrow, to the three people I owe fics back to.  Promise.  And answer my outstanding comments on fic.

The latest challege at [livejournal.com profile] then_theres_us needs more voters:  http://community.livejournal.com/then_theres_us/211794.html  There are some lovely offerings this time.  The prompt was magic and many of these are very magical in more ways than one.

Guess what I've been working on (besides prompt gathering for the ficathon?)  You're What?  I should have a chapter finished today.  Also been working on TTT and LoF.  And thinking very hard about Pink Moon.  (No, not Zeppelins 'verse, unfortunately.  I am in a decidedly Nine mood at the moment).

I did some housekeeping on my LJ today and I defriended some people that I haven't heard from in at least a year or who no longer seem to be in the fandom, or all they post are daily tweets or seveal uncut memes a day.  My f-list was just getting ridiculously cluttered and I was tired of scrolling back so many pages to find what I actually wanted to read.  It's not personal and if you feel as if you have been defriended in error, do tell me and I will be happy to add you back.

This does not affect anyone who has friended me.  I will still show up on your f-list.

My postcard from London that [livejournal.com profile] crimedoc1 sent me arrived today!  It's got a nice view of Picadilly Circus on it and a phone box on the stamp.  Not a police box, but hey, close enough.  I put it up with the one [livejournal.com profile] sunnytyler001 sent me from Iceland.  By the way, [livejournal.com profile] crimedoc1, I am working on a little something for your birthday, but it's being a bit stubborn at the moment so it may be a few more days before it is finished.
