Happy Birthday, Dev.

Breakthtaking

The oxygen was nearly gone. All the usual methods of escape were denied them. The Doctor watched as the color slowly left Rose’s face, her shallow breaths becoming almost nonexistent. Her eyes met his as she dropped the respirator.

“Love you,” she managed as they closed.

In desperation he activated his respiratory bypass and pressed his lips to hers. “Take my breath, Rose.”

She inhaled and the life rushed back into her lungs. He’d keep her alive as long as he could.
They came ten minutes later, expecting corpses. Their mistake was opening the door. He took their breath away.

lomesir22 wanted Ten/Rose and the prompt was "Desperation." Apparently my muse likes angst right now.

It is the moments between the danger that they cling to each other with desperation. Not when they might, would, could, will be torn apart, but when they are together.

It’s almost as if they know these moments are getting smaller, that their bits of peace will be the most rare of things as time goes on. Time, that monster, pulling and pushing and tearing at them with gnashing teeth.

The warning is there, comes from the devil himself.

The valiant child who will die in battle.

Who will die in battle.

Who will die.

And he will live on.

So, I've finished the Tenth Doctor drabbles. I'll start on the Ninth ones soon, but am almost finished with the next chapter of Leap of Faith so I'm not sure quite when I will get to them. Maybe tomorrow, maybe next week. Also, sorry if Nine tends to be hanging around in some of these drabbles. They are very much TenRose, though. Every drabble is exactly 100 words. All ages through Teen.

The first ten people to give me any Doctor/Rose pairing of choice and a ONE WORD PROMPT will get a drabble written just for them. I emphasize ONE WORD PROMPT because in the past some of you are very, very, very bad at leaving only ONE WORD PROMPTS. Also, please don't ask for stuff from any of my established 'verses (i.e. No Zeppelins or LoF, etc., just standard Doctor/Rose). Just Doctor Who this time, no Fringe or Castle.

I am trying to jumpstart my muse and drabble writing generally helps. So if you want a shiny drabble of your very own, you know the drill. It might take me a couple of days, though, fair warning.

In an attempt to get out of a rut of not writing I offered drabbles to my f-list. I am now firmly convinced that my f-list does not know the meaning of the words "one word prompt." *laughs* That is okay, though. It all worked out for the good. Teenish for the most part.

I...I don't even believe it, but I've committed OT3. Yeah, me. And the worst part is, not once, not twice, but three times. Since I believe in putting blame firmly where blame belongs, this is entirely the fault of wendymr. Okay, and a couple of other enablers. *laughs* These are...teenish, I'd say. Not that I'll make this a habit, but it was an interesting challenge. Sorry if the formatting is a bit wonky. LJ is being extremely stupid tonight.

A/N: ladychi gave me the prompt Castle and Alexis and explosion. First Castle fic from me, another baby. 100 words in Word. For those not in the know, Richard Castle is a divorced mystery writer who tails a homicide detective (Kate Beckett) that he's half in love with to find inspiration for his books. He has a young teenage daughter, Alexis.

Explosion

Castle is a brave man. In his line of work, he has to be. What he doesn’t expect after running into a burning building and rescuing his…whatever the hell Beckett is to him, is to find his daughter waiting for him quietly in the dark. Alexis is so still, he can barely make out the gleam of her red hair.

He turns on the lamp. The fury on her normally gentle face astounds him. There is another explosion waiting for him tonight just beneath her surface.

“You could have died!”

He holds her and hopes she can forgive his recklessness.
