There is such stillness in him when he sleeps. It is rare for him to nap, rarer still for her to catch him at it. His face is almost peaceful, unlined in repose, unworried. He’s fallen asleep reading, his head against the back of the sofa. She catches his book as it slips from his fingers, closes it with her hair ribbon to mark his place, and smiles at the title: Interspecies Courting. Silly Time Lord. All he needs to do is ask. She lifts his arm, settles onto the cushion beside him, and cuddles with him until he awakens.
