Is there anyone on my f-list who is watching The Flash and has also watched Arrow. I've never watched Arrow, but in episode 104 there's a character named Felicity that obviously has a history of some sort with Barry. They showed a couple flash backs that definitely are not from The Flash. So what's the deal there? I really don't want to watch Arrow, but if there is an episode or two of Arrow that kind of introduced the character of Barry and had him interacting with those guys, what episodes were they so I can see if I can watch them and fill in the gaps?

*waves hand excitedly* I know! I know! ;)

Barry was first introduced in Arrow's second season, 2x08 "The Scientist" and 2x09 "Three Ghosts." I adore Barry to pieces, which might seem surprising since I ship Oliver/Felicity (Olicity ;) ) liek woah. But I would definitely love me some Barry/Felicity if they were just on the same show and thus had a proper chance to be together. ;)

Oh and we also meet Caitlin and Cisco for the first time in 2x19 "The Man Under the Hood." ;) Hope that helps! :D ♥♥♥

Wasn't Felicity scarily perfect on The Flash? Like she fit in so smoothly?

Oh, I looooooved her on it, to the point where I was kinda sorry to see her go back. :(

It makes me sad to say that because I still do love Arrow, even with all its angst and grimness. I even still love Oliver even though I get these urges to put him in a headlock until he pulls his head out of his rear, lol! ;)

I'm just really, REALLY not a fan of the direction they've started out in for this season. Oliver being sad and angsty, well, yeah, that's his thing. But Felicity being sad? No. No, no, no, and noooooooo. She's, as you said downstream, ;) the bright spot. Anything that dims HER or hurts HER brings down my overall enjoyment of the show.

They were on a good track with their relationship last season, IMO. I wish they would've kept it there instead of this weird thing they did where it's like they jumped ahead during the break, skipping over so many moments the shippers would've rather SEEN than just sort of have implied, and then went right into "I love you but oh noes, we cannot be together! So now we shall both know we love each other but will remain trapped in 'So Close and Yet So Far-ville!'" :S ;) That's crashed their momentum quite a bit or so it feels to me. :( I hope they have the chance to course-correct, rather than drag this particular thing out for all season. :(

And, oh yeah, why has Oliver not done the salmon ladder this season? Do they WANT the show to fail??? *giggles* ;)

You're welcome! Hopefully those couple of eps will give you a better idea about Arrow. ;) It IS often on the heavy side but Felicity is an absolute joy (she comes in in ep 3 of the first season in what was supposed to be a one-shot deal but her chemistry with Oliver was so off the charts that she ended up as a regular and a vital, core member of the team in more ways than one; Stephen Amell said that he unexpectedly smiled in their first scene together and they all later realized that that was the first time that Oliver HAD smiled genuinely in the show). There's still many moments of fun to be found amidst the seriousness.

Some cute s1 and 2 Felicity moments, spoilers, of course, but nothing too devastating in the grand scheme of things, IMO.

I also adore the third member of the original Team Arrow, John Diggle1 *point to my icon* ;) Dig and Felicity keep Oliver anchored from going off into an unrelenting pit of darkness. The two of them have restored so much of his humanity, he truly couldn't make it without them. *clears throat* ;) Ahem. [/end Arrow commercial]

Anyway, whether or not you end up watching Arrow, I hope you're enjoying The Flash! :D I love Barry to pieces and have really been enjoying the show so far. ;) *hugs* ;) ♥♥♥

I'd almost recommend Arrow just for Felicity (who legit started as a one-off character!) and the cute of Olicity, but Oliver can be such a dumbass and Arrow has been such a downer. Like seriously after Felicity guest-starred on TF, I seriously thought, 'OK, can she just move over to this show so I can stop watching Arrow? It's almost a chore at this point. But when they actually show Olicity, they are adorable.

I really liked her character and she meshed well with The Flash cast, but I feel like Arrow is just too dark a show for me to enjoy. Of course, I say this just based on the ads since I have never watched it. It looks grim and kind of unhappy all the time.

And you just nailed it! Grim and kind of unhappy all the time! Felicity's pretty much the only bright spot and she's dimmed a bit because of the grim and unhappy. :( But she and Oliver DO have chemistry and what keeps me watching Arrow. But the whole talking to herself (like when she was standing outside the trivia coffeehouse (my fave part) she does ALL THE TIME, and saying inappropriate things? Totally Felicity! She's just about worth watching the show worth.

If you remember Brady from Vampire Diaries--the werewolf who was Jules boyfriend who shot Stefan and then stalked Elena at the lakehouse in season 02--he was played by Stephen Amell who plays Oliver. He's not the best actor, but he's pretty! And there are good actors. And Felicity, and again, they do have chemistry. It just takes a while to get to them.

But yeah, it's grim and not a happy show. No.

I've just really found that if there isn't a strong balance to the darkness shows like that will really just get me down and I'll end up abandoning them. If they don't give me anything to hope for, no light, no strong humor, no snark, I don't have anything to latch on to or care about.

I don't mind, dark, broody, deeply damaged characters, but they have to have moments where they don't take themselves so seriously and can have days where they actually enjoy life or I won't care about them and if I don't care, what's the point?

I wouldn't recommend Arrow then.
