Is there anyone on my f-list who is watching The Flash and has also watched Arrow. I've never watched Arrow, but in episode 104 there's a character named Felicity that obviously has a history of some sort with Barry. They showed a couple flash backs that definitely are not from The Flash. So what's the deal there? I really don't want to watch Arrow, but if there is an episode or two of Arrow that kind of introduced the character of Barry and had him interacting with those guys, what episodes were they so I can see if I can watch them and fill in the gaps?

I really liked her character and she meshed well with The Flash cast, but I feel like Arrow is just too dark a show for me to enjoy. Of course, I say this just based on the ads since I have never watched it. It looks grim and kind of unhappy all the time.

And you just nailed it! Grim and kind of unhappy all the time! Felicity's pretty much the only bright spot and she's dimmed a bit because of the grim and unhappy. :( But she and Oliver DO have chemistry and what keeps me watching Arrow. But the whole talking to herself (like when she was standing outside the trivia coffeehouse (my fave part) she does ALL THE TIME, and saying inappropriate things? Totally Felicity! She's just about worth watching the show worth.

If you remember Brady from Vampire Diaries--the werewolf who was Jules boyfriend who shot Stefan and then stalked Elena at the lakehouse in season 02--he was played by Stephen Amell who plays Oliver. He's not the best actor, but he's pretty! And there are good actors. And Felicity, and again, they do have chemistry. It just takes a while to get to them.

But yeah, it's grim and not a happy show. No.

I've just really found that if there isn't a strong balance to the darkness shows like that will really just get me down and I'll end up abandoning them. If they don't give me anything to hope for, no light, no strong humor, no snark, I don't have anything to latch on to or care about.

I don't mind, dark, broody, deeply damaged characters, but they have to have moments where they don't take themselves so seriously and can have days where they actually enjoy life or I won't care about them and if I don't care, what's the point?

I wouldn't recommend Arrow then.
