Well, despite hugging porcelain pretty much for two days straight now, I have managed to get caught up on my comments and write quite a bit on Hunger Moon.  I'm up to 1700 words now.  I'm determined to finish this chapter.  It's about the only thing that's keeping my head on straight.  Why is it that children turn into absolute demons when you're sick?  And is my husband ever coming home?  I still haven't heard from him about what's up with his work alternate and he's supposed to be flying home today.  *sighs*

*huggles* Hope you feel better soon hun!

And I don't know why kids are horrid when their parentals are sick. I know I certainly was terrible whenever my mum was sick, but I honestly couldn't tell you why. *shrugs* Must be one of those sucky unwritten laws of the universe.

*huggles more*

Sick parents are scary, that's why, being horrible is just scaring off the scary. Anyway. Get better soon.

I'm sorry you're feeling rotten. That does suck, especially if you're on your own.

I do think kids are reacting partly out of fear, but my pets tend to do it, too. Except for one cat who'll come curl up by my side. This is the same one who likes to "help" me when I'm doing yoga.

Ohhhh, I'm so sorry you're sick.

*rushes off to make chicken soup*

Kids act up when a parent is sick because they are scared. Parents are supposed to be invulnerable (also omniscient, omnipotent, and better at sports than any major leaguer, apparently). When mom is sick, things are wrong. So they misbehave to force you to BE MOM. To get your attention and make you act normally again.

Feel better soon!

Yeah. Mine (boy 7, girl 5) do it sometimes when their dad is sick, because it's a fairly rare event. Frankly, *I* freak a bit when their dad gets sick - he's not SUPPOSED to get sick! They react differently when it's me because growing up with a disabled parent affects kids' behavior and outlook a bit, so it's not such a big deal for them when I have a flare-up. My husband will say, "Mom's really hurting today," or "Mom's not feeling well right now," and that's fairly normal so it doesn't scare them.

Although I have recently had to work on the concept that being disabled is NOT a good thing, even if you do get to park in the "blue spaces" and jump the lines in Disney. They didn't realize that the benefits do not outweigh the disadvantages. My son finally got it last year when I had to miss almost all of his baseball games because I was having some serious problems and was in too much pain to handle walking to the field and sitting on the bleachers.
