I took about a week off from writing because basically I wasn't doing anything other than banging my head against the wall.  I found a prompt that really grabbed me from the [livejournal.com profile] then_theres_u[livejournal.com profile] s ficathon, which is harder than it sounds.  There's a few hundred prompts there and only one jumped me viciously, though I did have one that went kinda sorta maybe that I'll look at again when I finish this one.  I woke up at five this morning and couldn't get back to sleep.  That's not quite as bad as it sounds as I fell asleep before midnight for a change.  It's the first day of school today so I didn't even try very long to get back to sleep.  Instead I opened up a word document, looked at my prompt again and started to write.  I think it's going to be too long to be comment fic.  It almost is already and I'm just getting into it.

I'll write on it some more after I get my second kiddo off to school.  I'll take him in about ten minutes.  Then I'll write until it's time for my dentist appointment at 11:00.  Hopefully I can finish it today and maybe work on LoF, although that's probably too much to ask.  I feel in a much better place with writing, though.  Maybe I'll never get back the ability to churn out 2000 words a day, but a couple short fics or chapters a week would be nice.

I started swimming again on Monday.  I did 15 laps.  13 is 1/4 of a mile.  It's nowhere near the 45 I was up to before I got hurt again, but it's a start and I can't push myself too hard.  It's not even been two months since the surgery yet.  I am going to try to swim every other day, but we'll have to see.  My body felt better afterwards.  Swimming really helps to loosen up the back.

I started a new diet this morning, too.  So far so good and no food cravings.  We'll see where I am at the end of the day.

Yay you! Swimming is wonderful exercise, and 15 laps is nothing to sneeze at... and a new diet is always an interesting prospect. Mr. Who and I have started to eat Paleo... well... modified paleo. Yikes. It is hard, but I'm already feeling better... only after about a week.

First day of school... always a big day. I loved the first day of school when I was a student. It always held so much promise.

CDTG and The Littlest Who start on Monday -- TLW is off to kindergarten down the road and I'm homeschooling CDTG after the nightmare that was first grade at our local public school (she was bullied almost every day, punched in the stomach by a boy, and brought home a lurvely new set of vocabulary words fit for a sailor -- did I tell you she's in first grade? Of course she didn't know what she was saying...)

So glad to hear you are feeling up to writing again. I think I know the prompt you are writing about... I saw your reply. I am REALLY looking forward to reading what you come up with!

Yep, that's the prompt and I am really enjoying writing it. Paleo is a little harsh for me, but I am doing a controlled carb program that is somewhat similar.

I'm still quite dubious... I am a bread baker. I grind my own wheat and make wonderful whole grain breads. I just can't see how they would be bad! I don't particularly like diets that cut out an entire food group. I figure if God made it, it can't be bad to eat, right? It's not like I fill my bread with a bunch of chemicals, shortening etc... I do love the focus on fresh fruit and veggies, though. Can never get enough of those. I have a feeling we will end up eating a modified version.

I am with you -- a controlled carb approach is wise.

I bake my own bread, too, but most of the time I do rolls and buns just because I can totally butcher a loaf of bread with a knife (because I am too impatient to wait for it to cool before I cut it). But with individually made portions I don't have to worry about that so much. The program I am on allows for a small amount of high carb at one meal a day, so long as you don't stretch that meal past an hour's time and carefully balance it with low carb veggies and protein. Fruit and bread will be my high carbs of choice (but not on the same day). It's about timing as much as it is about controlled carb eating.

oooh, you're writing? That's great news love, as I know you've really not been feeling like doing so lately. Glad to hear things are looking up healthwise too :)

The fact that you are feeling healthy enough to swim is good news.

Take care.
