Brief Update

I haven't posted much lately, mostly because I am having a hard time getting used to my new glasses.  I've had glasses for distance since I was fourteen, but in the last couple of years I've had trouble reading more and more, had to have my computer set on 125% magnification, and practically hold any book I was reading a few inches from my nose.  Well, this time around (it's been since 2008 since I got glasses) my prescription had changed so dramatically that they gave me progressive lenses (or basically trifocals without the lines).  I've got where to look for distance down and where to look for reading, but I am having a really hard time figuring out the right angle to look through for the computer.  And the new prescription (even the part for distance) just makes my eyes very tired since it is so much stronger than before.

The eye doctor said it should take me about two weeks to adjust.  It's been since Wednesday and I really hope it doesn't take much longer, because I really miss being able to read on the computer for long periods of time.

I keep wanting to write a reaction post to The Impossible Astronaut.  I've watched it twice so far, once on my own and once with the family, but I think I need to watch it one more time before I can scrape my thoughts together.  At least it is very watchable even with the few moments that make me cringe.

Good luck with the transitions. My husband gave up on his and just went with the distance lenses. His bifocals didn't work for him AT ALL.

That must be hard, adjusting to those lenses. I hope it gets easier for you real soon.

ooh, the annoyance of new glasses, I have to wear them too. I'm okay with distance, better than most actually, but for reading, whether it's a book of my PC, I just can't any more without them. I think it took me about a week to get used to me last pair, so hope you find you're getting used to yours soon

Virtual hugs. I can commiserate. Since I turned 40 (shhhh, don't tell anyone) my eyes tanked. I've always been far-sighted, and have had bifocals since college. But this last Rx THREW me. My elder daughter is very, very near-sighted, and has had 4 Rx changes in 2 years...she's only just 7 :( and each time the Rx changes, she feels lousy for two weeks.

If only I could get Lasik or PRK...I'd very a happy girl indeed.

Anyway, I hope you adjust soon, as I'd love to read your reactions to S6 E1. I'm very mixed on the episode. I realized watching it just how much I miss the RTD years. I don't hate SM's vision... oh, I don't know. I'm still hung up on 9 and 10, I suppose. :(

Hope you get adjusted to the new glasses soon, hon! This last pair that I just got a few months ago had to have a really drastic increase in my prescription and they warned me I could have trouble with them. But my eyes were under such strain trying to see with glasses that were too weak that I was back to having really bad headaches from it. Once I put the new glasses on, it was like my eyes went, "Whew!" and that was it. I didn't have really any period of adjustment at all! O_O

However, when I had to first start wearing glasses at all a few years ago, it was an adjustment liek woah to try to read the computer screen and such. o_O
