I've got what the kids had last week and it is miserable. My doctor will be back on Wednesday. I really don't like running fevers especially when they can't make up their minds between whether or not to make you blazing hot or switch to chills. The weather isn't helping. We've got a windchill factor straight out of the Arctic Circle, with freezing rain and they are predicting snow where I used to live. Being at sea level now has it's benefits, but it is still fricking cold.
On the bright side my knee doesn't hurt nearly as bad as it was. I actually went down the two steps off the porch today without using a cane. Progress. Yay. It still aches, but it's more of a dull and constant throb as opposed to a sharp, stabbing, shooting thing. I've been off hydrocodone for a couple of days now, though I think I have a withdrawal headache from it. Or that could be the yuck that I'm sick with. It might be both.
Oh, Brit people, how rude is it to say something is bollocks on a level of one to ten? Would it be okay for a teen rated fic? Or is that more of an adulty swear?

Oh sweetie, you are such a doll! I really hadn't given that much more thought, I've been so worried about you. I'm so glad to hear your knee is doing better. I hope that the yuck will decide to go bye bye soon as well.
In the meantime, I eagerly anticipate my fic...:D

Date: 2010-10-26 03:54 am (UTC)I'm not a Brit, but... I'm thinking that if Ron Weasley can say "bloody hell" at the drop of a hat - beginning in the first book/movie - "bollocks" would be okay for a teen-rated fic.
One of the lovely links available at Teaspoon says: Bollocks - This is a great English word with many excellent uses. Technically speaking it means testicles but is typically used to describe something that is no good (that's bollocks) or that someone is talking rubbish (he's talking bollocks). Surprisingly it is also used in a positive manner to describe something that is the best, in which case you would describe it as being "the dog's bollocks". Englishmen who live in America take great delight in ordering specialised registration plates for their cars using the letters B.O.L.L.O.X. Good eh?
I guess, from a mother's standpoint, if my young'un was still a teenager, I would be okay with him reading something with "bollocks" in the text. Bloody hell, I'd be happy with the fact he was reading! :D

Date: 2010-10-26 08:49 am (UTC)as for the Brit question, attitudes vary of course, but most people I know treat bollocks more as a slang word these days than a swear word. For most saying "that's just bollocks" is no worse than saying "that's just crap" etc. So I'd say it's fine for a teen rating

Date: 2010-10-26 09:39 am (UTC)I wouldn't put it in an "all ages" fic without careful thought, but in "teen" it's fine: they're saying it, reading it won't hurt :P
I do hope your knee gets better (soon)!
