My Reaction to the Trailer for episode 6
May. 4th, 2008 05:01 pmand one little question about episode five.
Entire post is SPOILED so don't read it if you don't want to hear my musings.
So, they're giving him a kid, huh? Not too crazy about that idea. Yeah, that's me of the baby!fic saying that. And they showed his hand in a jar a couple of times. So my theories... He knows who she is because she'd have to be in his head when they meet if she's his daughter, right? She might have been able to shield before or...if she's just come off the loom she wasn't sentient until the moment the TARDIS heard her, slammed the doors and took off. But my idea is definitely that she was loomed. Although there could be partial cloning, but I hope not. I don't think they dare do a natural born child or it'll seriously whack the integrity of the show. Not that I don't want to see a baby with Rose, but...it's not Doctor Who, not really. Anyway, I think the Master is responsible, it's something he set in place last season before he was killed and it's only just come to fruition. He had that hand for a long time, and then he had the Doctor for a long time so access to DNA would be easy.
Kind of looks like she's being trained as an uber weapon or soldier, which the Doctor would absoultely hate and the Master would know it would destroy part of him. I do wonder where they are going with this. It seems very off for Doctor Who. Although I do wonder if we won't see a Master clone at some point in the future, but that's another ramble.
Just thinking out loud. If you comment and you've been spoiled for anything past episode six, please don't leave it in the comments. I'm trying to not be spoiled for the end of the season.
As for the question on episode 5, wouldn't igniting the atmosphere also burn up all the oxygen? I don't think my science is that faulty, but stuff burns because of oxygen on this planet and it stops burning when all the oxygen is gone, so wouldn't it have been just as bad as the stuff he was trying to burn? Did I miss something when he was explaining the device he was using? I know he said something about terraforming but I didn't hear any real explanation about it not taking out the oxygen.

Date: 2008-05-05 04:31 am (UTC)She does looks like she is (has) being trained as an uber weapon or soldier which will be drama for the Doctor. I'm really worried about this episode and this character. I have this fear (with no real proof) that something bad will happen to the girl and she will die thus making the Doctor emo and alone again. I'm also fearful she'll be annoying or Mary Sue or a bratty princess. I'm over ration and worrying but that trailer made it all worse. I hope whent he episode airs I will look a idiot having made a been wess over something that never came to pass.

I won't think so. Guess it's one of those "it's Doctor Who" you just gotta go with it. The writers better watch that because IMO there the times they can get away with it are few and far in between.

Date: 2008-05-05 06:15 pm (UTC)It's like this who ever gets close to the Doctor gets burned. Companions, companion's friends and family, people who where going to be companions but died before they had a chance. It's like what Martha said, the Doctor shines so bright but get to close and you can get burned, I think the writers (RTD) used that a little too often. They'd talked about it enough times. I'm very fearful about poor Donna how will she get burned? We already know what happened to Martha and Jack...
I wish we could just have happy!Doctor and Happy!heathly!companion at the end of each season.
