Pain is Being One

Pain is being such a...well, pain right now.  Ch. 3 has had so many false starts I'm not sure when it's going to come out right.  I blame it on Nine and Rose.  Well, mostly on Nine.  But Rose is right in there, too.  They keep wanting to have sex Right Now, when I've made it very clear to both of them that they are going to have to wait until the next story in the series.  Rose is sort of off in the corner pouting, but more or less accepting it with a decent amount of grace, but Nine is in full-on sulk mode.  He doesn't want to have a conversation about feelings.  The only thing he wants to be feeling is Rose!  I think he's particularly annoyed because alt!Nine got his, AGAIN, but here he is still WAITING, because I'm too stubborn to give in and let him jump the gun, or jump Rose, as the case may be.  Darn stubborn character!

I may have to skip ahead and write the next story out so they can get their sex out of the way and then go back and write the lead up to it.  I don't generally like writing out of order, but I've been known to do it on the occasions where the characters get their stubborns on.  Like now.  That usually happens before smut.  I see a pattern, here.

I mean, I know he's a sexually repressed Time Lord who hasn't gotten his mojo on in centuries, but really...if he's waited this long, what's one more chapter?  Just because he's ready now doesn't mean it's time.

Although...hmm...I wonder...  No, wait that's just Nine again disguising his voice and trying to convince me that maybe they could have misunderstood sex.  Something along the lines of they have it, but each thinks the other only wants a one time thing, when they both want it to be more...but no, that won't quite go with Rose turning him down because of that very reason in the last chapter.

Might as well go and bang my head against the wall now.  It's not like I'm getting any sleep tonight anyway.

I do sympathize, but I also love this glimpse inside your head...and what you need to do sometimes to make your stories so great!
That Nine...he is something else, isn't he? Probably why we love him so much!

Yeah, I do tend to go round and round with the characters and writing it down helps, usually. They can be so stubborn. I'm glad you get a kick out of it. Nine is wonderful and full of depth but man, he's a randy beggar right now.

LOL Yeah, I know. I love running into other people who not only know what I'm talking about, but they hear them, too! Those voices can be so pesky, especially when they aren't saying what you want them to be saying. *sighs* I will make Nine behave sooner or later, though. I will, I will, I will. And then he gets to misbehave the right way. *grins* Oh, look he's starting to perk up.

Doesn't everyone? *blinks innocently* I have dialog going in my head a lot of the time. When I was writing Wolf Moon they would not shut up! Constantly nattering on. They're not quite as vocal at the moment. I don't know if it's a writer thing, a prolific writer thing, or if I'm maybe just a little bit off. *grins*. Maybe both. Ah, well. I like living just a little left of center.

I just wish I could figure out what I've done to make my characters stop talking to me. I have the worst case of writer's block I've had in years. Maybe I can bribe 'em with a little sex. Ya think?

Maybe you should just write them having sex, then write the story the way you want it to be. An alternate Alt!verse. =) You wouldn't be able to write them having sex again because that would just be repeating yourself.

I'm saying this to try and get more smut out of you, you know. =) And more regular fic, sooner. ^.^

They can be such truculent dears, which is just one of the reasons I frequently write chapters out of order. Makes it a bit difficult on my readers I suspect as they get long gaps with no new stuff but when I finally do get it together I always feel it turned out so much better for the detours. Not to mention the occasional mini or drabble that falls out of abandon plots bits.

I guess I'm lucky that my blocks don't last longer than they do. But yeah, I've had a few drabbles fall out because of it, and they often work wonders in getting me going again.
