Some Odds and Ends

<----------  I am thinking of changing my default icon to this.  It's off my Hunger Moon banner that angelfireeast made for me.  Still not sure I'm going to, I"m quite fond of my Ten/Rose one, it's just...they look so serious, not quite happy.  And I've been gravitating more and more to writing Nine fics.  Well, except for the Zeppelins 'verse.  I've been looking through tons of icon pages trying to find something that really appeals to me.  Plenty that do as icons, but none that really have as a day to day one that I want to look at all the time.  This one I really like seeing in the banner, so I thought why not?  I asked angelfireeast ages ago if she minded me making it into an icon, back when I was making alt!TARDIS icons with her pink TARDIS manip she made me and she said it was okay, so I finally got around to doing it.  And no one else will have anything like it, and I like that in a default icon, too.  Hmm...what do you all think, f-list?  Think it's time for a change?

To the writer's among you:  Do you ever have story summaries fall into your head?  Not plots or anything like that, just perfect worded story summaries of things you really have no intention of ever writing?  I woke up with this one for an imaginary fic called Sliding rumbling around in my head:

Rose Tyler spent three years sliding across parallel dimensions looking for her Doctor and the Earth that was her home. It was inevitable, really, that she’d meet other Sliders. A Doctor Who/Sliders crossover fic.

Yeah, like I've even watched Sliders since it was originally on network TV.  Just one of those weird things that pop into my head from time to time.  This one at least doesn't have a plot to go with it like the Jack Harkness/Claire Bennett fic that I am not writing (all 1161 words of it so far).

Well, if you are taking votes, I like this new icon better. I am thinking of changing my default too, but I don't know what I want to change it to.

Thanks. Figured you would. And I decided to change my journal theme, too, to something not so dark. Been getting headaches lately and eye strain, so switched to something white. Not sure if I'll keep this one or not, since the blue panels on the sides are kind of bright. Wish I could replace the rocket with a TARDIS and then it would be perfect.

Have to say, this is much easier on the eye than the dark blue background! Sorry! It looked good but when I was reading your fics, I found it hard on the eye and sometimes it gave me eye strain. My eyes are quite sensitive, I wear sunglasses nearly all the time, even on very dull days, because if I don't it hurts, dunno why. This is much more gentle.

And, I feel I should say yes, that summaries do pop into my head, but I can't think of one right now.I think it's probably because I do write them...

It is a day of great change, so if you feel you'd like something different, why not?

Oh, and I've never had a complete summary pop into my head before. Scenes and pictures, yes, but never summaries.

Yes, please do change to that wonderful icon! I liked it the first time you used it, and it kinda 'commits' you to writing what is obviously your speciality, Nine/Rose.

I aso love the idea of your 'Sliding' idea. That was a great TV show that lasted too short of a time. Lots of openings for new ideas, there.

I don't mind which icon you use, I like them both, but I hope that I've been gravitating more and more to writing Nine fics. means you won't stop writing Ten fic too, I love your Nine, Ten and Jonathon :-)

Nope, I won't stop writing Ten fics. Especially not Jonathon/Rose. I have recently started plotting out A Sky Without Stars, the sequel to A Sky Without Zeppelins, even if the first fic still has some ways to go yet, and have the Zeppelins 'verse planned out on a ten year time line. Ten years for them, not me! *laughs* And I do intend to get back to writing Time Eternal. Cassi's been misplaced/kidnapped after all. So never fear. There's just not enough hours in the day to do all the writing I want to do.

Hee, hee, I did think that was really organised of you!! I'm glad to hear that you're thinking on lots of Jonathon and of course more Ten family, I've really enjoyed your Time Eternal Stories, I read most on Teaspoon.

There's just not enough hours in the day to do all the writing I want to do.

Oooh I used to love Sliders! Yeah it does sort of lean towards a natural crossover. I have had an idea for ages and ages for a Heroes crossover, with Claude coming across Rose in the Alt!verse, maybe after Doomsday. Now whether it will ever get written is another matter! I've got another Nine/Rose babyfic in the works as well as a huge project still in the planning stages for pre-Rose Nine - that one is working out to be a monster.

You might have to wait a while. I want it to be completely finished before it is posted. It's quite complicated too, and more ideas for it keep coming. Beginning to wonder what i have got myself into with this one!

I have that, too... where summaries just pop into my head. I'm having a hard time keeping away from a West Wing/Doctor Who crossover... HOURS I spend, talking myself out of that.

I have to admit to having no idea what Sliders was, so I googled it. Now I'm very excited about the story you aren't writing.
I also wanted to pick your brains over something... I'm looking for somebody who would be able to make some banners/icons for my D&D series. Do you know anyone who would be willing?

angelfireeast makes my intricate ones. You could ask her. I don't know if she has the time, but you can ask. Tell her I sent you. I know that lostwolfchats makes her own banners and does a fabulous job but I don't know if she does them for other people or not. Want me to post an Ask on my LJ saying you're looking for someone to make you some stuff? My f-list is up over 200 people and I know some of them make icons so they probably have banner skills, too.

I make the easier ones myself, the ones that are just a screen cap that I crop and add text to. I don't know if you have any kind of photo shop type program or not, but that's how I started.

Oh, I like the new theme and of course I love the icon! I know what you mean, I've gone through a couple of default icons trying to find one I didn't mind seeing on all over the place on my old LJ entries that have "lost" their original icons by now. ;) I finally settled on this one *points* because it just makes me smile. :D

I'm the opposite way, strangely enough, when it comes to eye strain: I had to switch my Word to the WordPerfect dark blue background with lighter text a long time ago. The white background with black text nearly makes me blind after a few minutes of staring into it! :( That's also why my LJ is black with white text rather than the other way around. ;)

Oh, I hope you switch me to your style if mine hurts your eyes! I'd hate to think my layout was headache-inducing! :( (I love that "view in my style" feature. It's not only handy for backgrounds that hurt my eyes but for ones that have a lot of sidebar animations that take a long time to load. ;) )

I had the fully-formed summary thing happen to me with my original stories waaaay back when. I'd occasionally get this nice little sound-bite delivered into my brain out of nowhere, lol! ;) Haven't had it happen with any fic just yet but I'm still sort of getting going on that front. ;)

I don't get story summaries like that, but I do get story ideas all the time. I'm just too lazy to sit down and actually write them. It's been fantastic to have you pick up a couple of my ideas. Maybe I should just be a muse from now on. XD
