Chapter Thirty-one:  Anomaly

Jackie had neither been hurt nor angry when they appeared on her back lawn. When the Doctor had popped his head out of the TARDIS to see her standing there on the back lawn, Daisy in her arms and Johnny and Pete next to her, she’d simply looked confused. “What are you doing back so soon?” She asked him. “It’s only been a month since you left.”

“A month?” He frowned. The two Earth’s shouldn’t be that far off from each other. Maybe it was because they had left 2018 and shot for 2009, that they’d ended up back in 2008. Well, that he could figure out later. “It’s been longer for us.”

“How much longer?” she asked as Rose stepped out of the TARDIS. “Nine months?” She laughed looking at the baby in Rose’s arms.

Chapter Twenty-seven:  Two to Go

Rose had two weeks left in her pregnancy when they left Kranamar. They left with the knowledge that the damaged women were not all sterile. Ten percent of them would be able to bear more children. Although not the best news, it was still so much more than anyone had hoped for. Of the babies who had suffered the consequences of Harrington Conrad’s actions, sixteen had died out of just over 10,000. It wasn’t a bad outcome, though she did grieve for those they had lost.

Chapter Twenty-three:  Where There's Life

“It’s going to have to be Dare,” said Kaylee as Andromeda walked in the door.

“It’s too dangerous right now,” insisted Cassiopeia.

“It’s the only way.” Kaylee dug her heels in stubbornly. “There isn’t anything else we can do. Mum’ll agree with me,” she said.

“Hardly a surprise there if I’m disagreeing with you.”

Chapter Nineteen:  Concatenation

Martha stepped into Donna’s hand and the older woman boosted her up to the window. “Do you see anything?”

“Yeah,” Martha muttered. “It’s Rose. She looks unconscious. And he’s with her.”

Donna helped Martha back down to the ground. “Okay, there’s an open window in the room next door. If I boost you up high enough you should be able to pull yourself in. From there, well, I guess you’ll have to improvise.”

Chapter Seventeen:  Progression

Harrington Conrad heard the scream coming from Rose Tyler’s room and smiled. So something could get to her after all. He hadn’t liked her calm reserve or his inability to shake her, though he had found himself admiring the woman, as much for her strength as for her beauty.

It was really too bad, he mused, that she’d have to die with the child. Taming that mix of fire and ice appealed to him. She would make a fine lady at his side. But not at the cost of her child. He knew instinctively that she would never forgive him for that. He shrugged. Silly fancy anyway. He was starting to indulge them a little too frequently lately. Look at the way he’d let that first Kranamari female live too long just because she was pretty.

Chapter Fifteen:  From Zero to Sixty

“So then we rappelled down the cliff face and--.”

“You did what?” Donna turned and gave the Doctor a stern glance. “You took Rose rappelling? In her condition?”

“It was all perfectly safe,” said Rose. “Donna, I’m not made of glass. I’m not going to break. There were safety harnesses and anti-gravity belts as back up in case something went wrong with the harnesses.”

Chapter Fourteen:  Old Friends, Old Memories

“I don’t think I’ve ever seen you in green before,” the Doctor said as Rose emerged from the bedroom in a diaphanous emerald green blouse that flowed about her slowly expanding mid-section. The tough trousers she wore were a paler green. “Except the bed on the TARDIS. The coverlet is green and it does look good against your skin.”

Chapter Thirteen:  Little Souvenirs

Rose woke on the soft bed made of sea rushes. She vaguely remembered falling asleep on the sand. The Doctor must have carried her in and put her to bed. She stretched languidly, letting her mind reach out for that tiny tell tale spark that meant his presence nearby. She liked having that link between them, had been happy when their bonding had left her with it.

Chapter Twelve:  Arrival at Sandoval

“We’ve arrived,” the Doctor said quietly catching Rose’s eyes across the console. She was curled up in the jump seat watching him with a steady, half-aroused look on her face. He didn’t know what had gotten into her. Well…he had, quite a bit lately actually, but anyway he liked it. He grinned at her and she smiled back in invitation.

“Honestly, Rose, we need to get checked in through customs first.”

“I didn’t say anything,” Rose said innocently.

“You looked it,” said the Doctor and she laughed.
