Exercise Update
Oct. 2nd, 2010 10:59 pmSo I got back in the pool tonight and I did 40 laps. All arms, absolutely no kicking. Funny thing is I think I actually went faster than when I was kicking because I didn't have pain shooting through my knees and quads that was slowing me down and making me breathe harder. I am hoping my shoulders can take it and that I won't be trading one joint problem for another. They're tired but not sore at the moment. I tried to keep to a slower speed to not put too much pressure on my arms, but I did the 40 laps in 55 minutes so, I don't know if I did. I took a couple 30 second stretch breaks at 12 laps, 24 laps, and 32 laps. My breathing was really good. Maybe I'm just in good swimming shape now or something? I don't know. It's a little confusing that I'm doing better without kicking, but maybe not. I'm just proud of myself for doing it despite my limitations. 3/4 of a mile plus one lap makes me happy. I feel it a little in my abs. I've not felt it in my abs before when I swam.
The kids want to go to the pool again tomorrow, but we'll play it by ear. I don't want to overdo it just yet.
