Own Favorite Fic Meme

Sometimes it's ok to pimp yourself out. Post a list of your top five fic-favorites you've written, regardless of fandom or the reason you love them. This isn't about the BEST things you've written, but what you LOVE most. Then tag five other people to do the same.

So earlgreytea68tagged me for this. And then lostwolfchatsthought she would, too. *sighs* Okay, okay, I'll do it. *laughs.*   I tag lillibetm3, irishlullaby, solarflar3, tardismate, and ladychi.  Why yes, they are all smut writers.  What of it?


 

1. Wolf Moon--Not only is this my favorite fic of all that I've written by far, it is the one that made me completely and utterly fall in love with Nine as a character. Now admittedly this is alt!Nine and not actual Nine, but he is intrinsically the same man and he adores, loves, and desires Rose with a passion that is unmatched in any of my other stories. I love this fic because it is the first time I really played with flirting and teasing and massive amounts of unresolved sexual tension, all without losing a through line of plot. It's also my longest fic by far, at over 118,000 words, it was written in 2 months and one week's time, and virtually wrote itself, save about three chapters out of 46 where I actually struggled a bit.  It was a story that burned through me and would not allow me not to write it.  I resisted for about a week before I gave in and wrote it.  I'm so glad I did.  Mostly I adore the relationship between the Doctor and Rose and then of course, there is alt!TARDIS.  Who doesn't love a bitchy TARDIS with an attitude who turns her interior pink to punish the Doctor when he gets on her nerves?  And hides his dancing bananas shower curtain? 

2.  That Night on Betazorn 9--Written in 20 minutes time off the inspired prompt of:  A blonde, a brunette, and a redhead walk into an intergalactic space bar on Betazorn 9.  And when they leave the bar is on fire...  I  almost never write crack!fic.  Yes, I use a lot of humor in my stories, but crack!fic is a very scary place for me to go.  However, when it happens, it happens magically and this time it just did.  Donna, Rose, and Ten at their best, or perhaps worst, celebrate the Doctor's birthday and well...if I could be a fly on the wall at that celebration I'd have loved it...as long as I got out of the bar before they burned it down.

3. Sacrifice--This fic is a Ten2, Rose, Ten, Jack, Mickey, and Jackie fic that fills in all of the gaps left for us by Journey's End.  It was my way of making peace with so much of what I felt was wrong and left out of that episode, and also with the parts that made me so very happy.  I found it very cathartic to write and it left me feeling like it was an ending that I could finally accept fully, even if I still think Ten leaving her the way he did was a gitty thing to do.  Giving him some sort of justification for it helped me not hate him, and the choices Ten2 makes here made me like him more than I originally thought possible.  I was also able to justify Rose's kissing Ten2 and make my peace with that.  All in all it did its job well, which was to make me feel better.

4.  A Place in Time--My second post-Doomsday reunion fic and the launch of the Time Eternal series.  Ten/Rose with Jack, Donna, and Martha, plus Torchwood.  It had twists and turns galore and a matchmaking TARDIS with bad taste in the romantic.  Eventually the pairing was reunited, bonded and by the end of the fic, pregnant.  It was my first really epic fic and it will always hold a special place in my heart because of that.  It was another fic that virtually wrote itself.  I like that in a fic.

5. Post Pomp--A rather huge exercise in angst and the first time I killed a major character.  Rose is abandoned after the events of the Girl in the Fireplace when the Doctor can't make it back to the 51st century.  I was very mad at Ten for the events of that episode and I made him pay for it in this fic.  Of course it all turns out in the end and I put everything firmly back into canon but it was a convuluted timey whimey ride to get there.  And I loved every minute of it.  Another fic that virtually wrote itself and quickly.  I wrote that 22 chapter fic and the one off epilogue in two weeks' time.

Now I can hear the wail of "What about Zeppelins?" rising up even as I type those five stories without including it.  Well, I decided to only include finished stories, but rest assured that if it were finished it would be there.  But since it isn't and I have no objectivity when it comes to my WiP's, I left it off.  Probably in second place, not first, though.

I'm so happy Wolf Moon is your favourite fic - I adored this, and it was, indirectly, the inspiration of my Nine writings...(so, all the smutfics are your fault really lol)

Done my list, and tagged my five too. (and I agree with you about Zeppelins...since it's not finished yet, you can't really say if it will end up as a favourite or not...but it will be one of my five all-time faves...)

Thank you. That story poured out of me as if it had a life of it's own and it tormented me to write it even before I ever did. I adore that story to pieces.

Although with Zeppelins, I am sure it'd end up as either my second favorite fic or a tie for my first favorite fic by the time it's done.

Post Pomp is the fic I read to get my Rose fix. I love her in that fic and it helped me deal with how very much I HATED that episode. Since I need a good escape..I think I'm off to go read!

Thanks. It is very Rose centric and I love that about it. It was definitely a catharsis for me to get over the GitF episode, too!
