It's been a rough week so far. They think Tobias broke a bone in his elbow and so we've spent a ridiculous amount of time running around getting it taken care of. The place where he (might have) broke it is sort of inside the joint so it doesn't show up well (or sometimes at all) on x-rays. So we went to the oncall pediatrician because of course ours is never available when we need her (seems like we only see her for yearly physicals at this point). Spent an hour there. Then shlepped over to x-ray and spent half hour there. Then back to the ped's office and sat and waited for a while. Then to the pediatric orthopedist whose nurse put on a half cast, a sort of fiberglass mold on the bottom that's held in place by bandages and gave him a sling to wear. About three hours all told, plus the hour and a half to drive there and back.

We go back to see one of our ped's partners in a week (because it would have taken two weeks to see our own doc and that's too long). Basically if his bone actually is broken there will be no improvement in pain or range of motion and they'll put him in a full cast. If there is improvement they'll consider it a really bad sprain and wrap it for another week and then he should be good to go again. Ah, medical science, what an exact are you are not.

As for me, I'm still playing tag with the scheduling nurse for my surgery, but at least I've finally heard from her. She was supposed to call on Thursday or Friday. That never happened. I have good pain days and bad pain days. I'm not writing much at all. Just a little on HM as my fic brain appears to be mostly in hibernation at the moment. It's really frustrating because I want to write. I even have time to write. I just can't really do it. I hope I get over this soon. I hate it. Writing is the outlet I use to relieve stress. When I don't have it, it's not good.

Chris comes in early Thursday morning so at least he'll be home for Thanksgiving. I'm happy about that. Bought our free range, organic turkey and the additive free/perservative free/ corn syrup free bread for the stuffing yesterday. We'll be taking it to Mom's house and having the meal there. It's her first year without dad and we didn't want to leave her on her own. Rose is going to help with the cooking this year since I can't stand for more than a minute or two at a time. Hopefully next year I'll be back to normal.
