She’s sure he doesn’t notice what she does. She cooks and she cleans and he lets her. Rose wishes just once that he’d say something or act like he knew she was doing these little things just for him. It’s not that she minds it so much as she wants to know that it matters. Or maybe it’s that she wants to know that she matters. But he’s said it before. He doesn’t do domestic. And chores and compliments are as domestic as it comes. So the little note on her bed surprises her. All it says is, “Thank you.”
