I was just wondering the name of a street where people might hang out who are goth or punk, teenage or college age.  A good place for loitering where they are tolerated and don't really get chased away too much.  It's for Zeppelins.  Thankies.

Um - groups not really tolerated anywhere unless it's a youth club - when i was a teen, groups used to going to the ice rink as a place to gather.

Which moon? Hunger Moon? Or the story that takes place on the moon (OTVB)?

Actually both. Want to see the evil telepaths put down, and want to see if all their children decide to go back to the other U.

Urmm they might hang out in the local park after dark, for the most part if they're not upto much they get left to it.

Or I'd say McDonalds or Co-op would be your best bet (for the life of me I fail to understand the attraction in hanging about outside these places).

Also any form of corner shop seems to attract the youths.

Okay, then, what about a major shopping district?

There isn't really many places where that would be tolerated. To be honest, they really wouldn't be tolerated at a major shopping district. At best they would be moved on and if they kept returning the ASBO's would be sought to keep them away.

If you are on about an alt! version of the Powell Estate then really they would probably congregate outside local shops; such as a Spar, or Co-op. But even then the shop managers and police would move them on pretty sharpish.

There isn't really a place where certain 'tribes' of teenagers hang out. Where I live, which is pretty representational of the UK, we just get the typical teenagers hanging around outside shops for a short while (then they get moved on). Usually the ones who are dressed in jeans, tracksuits and trainers (chavs mostly!!).

If you are talking about weekends, then older teenagers in London will go to the West End, or there is also Camden. My friend lives in London and her son goes to Southbank with his mates at times, he is 15. There is also Covent Garden.

Okay, thanks. Camden sounds like a winner.

Oh that's easy, Trafford Centre in Manchester, Blue Water in Kent, White Rose centre in Leeds to name a few.

To be honest, teenagers are more likely to go and hang out in these places if they are able to. Lots of shops, lots of space and vvvvveeerrryyyy few discontented neighbours.

As a youth myself (admittedly not a goth or punk xD) there are no specific places where teens hang around - if you're in town, you just wander. So anywhere in a city centre, really, would suit your purpose.

That's what it's like with my group of friends, anyway. ^^

Yeah, the city centre. In Glasgow, we have a lot of Goths etc hanging around outside the big museums and things on the steps. And in my small town there's two like squares which have benches/flowers/band thingy where youth tend to hang out as well.

Late at night it's the shops, the park, or just around the streets, but maybe the centres/town square too.

If you're talking about London I'd have to say Camden market, there's mountains of shops geared toward goths and plenty outside seating in the food market area. Although everyone would sort of hang round there so its not really specific (this is only based on my trips over to visit my friends in London)

That's exactly how I remember Camden market.

Oh yes, definitely Camden. I stayed in a hotel right next to the the lock when I was in London this summer and especially on the weekends the area was PACKED with teens and college age kids of all types (goth, punk, you name it, Camden has it!)

*sighs*

Wants to be back in London RIGHT NOW

Kings Road.

Well, if your story was set in the seventies... *has been listening to too much Sex Pistols*

So don't take me at my word. So I'd go with Camden.
