If by drinking age you mean when can you buy alcohol, it's 18 in England. However, 16 and 17 year olds can drink beer or wine with a meal if an adult orders it for them and are with them at the meal.
I mean when can they go out to a pub and buy their own alcohol. Thanks. Rose is being hit on by a boy barely past drinking age, but I wanted to make sure of how young that actually was.
In popular culture, it's considered to be eighteen. Sixteen- and seventeen-year-olds can buy alcohol under very restricted circuimstances, and at the moment anyone may drink if under adult supervision (though there's talk of changing this). But rule of thumb, eighteen.
