Have any of you imported your LJ journal here yet? Do you know if posts that were locked on LJ remain locked on import? About how long did it take from the time you submitted the request to the time the journal arrived?

Are there any Doctor Who communities here that you have found? Maybe something like Time and Chips or Hearts in Time? Also Doctor Who news comms or icon comms?

I'm still trying to find my way around here and am basically just looking for starting places. If LJ does indeed implode, I'd at least like to know where some stuff is ahead of time.

I've imported on a different account, and yes, the filters and friends-lock settings stay the same if you tell it to do so. It takes awhile to complete, depending on how backed up their server is. I started my import yesterday afternoon on this account, and it still hasn't completed. But they've had a flood of new accounts and probably a lot of import requests in queue, so it'll get done eventually I'm sure. :)

I honestly don't know much about communities and such on here. I've only really used it as a backup so far.

Well, it went pretty fast. 25 minutes and it was all in place.

As Wander said, importing does keep the locks/filters in place. How long it takes seems to vary, depending on how much content you have, and how busy the servers are when your request goes through.

Mine took about 10 hours, from my initial request through to getting the "it's done" message, but I'd got less than two years worth of content to copy over.

I haven't checked out any comms yet though, haven't really had time to look around much yet

Mine went really fast and it's all copied over in 25 minutes. And I've been posting there frequently since Jan of 2009, so quite a bit of content. I'm impressed.

Well I did do mine at the height of the mad rush to migrate, lol, so that might explain the difference. The only things that don't seem to migrate properly are youtube vids, but that's not really a big issue

Oh, dear, they don't even seem to be there at all. I wonder if I redo the embedding if it will show up. I like being able to find my favorite vids by posting them to my journal. If it turns out that Dreamwidth becomes my journal I'll definitely want them working.

according to the help pages, it's an issue with the importer, but editing the post to add them back should fix it

Assuming you have time to do that of course, depends how many you've posted I suppose
