Top Five Meme
Nov. 23rd, 2011 04:30 pmOkay, today is going very slowly, so thought I'd procrastinate participate in the Top Five Meme that's going around right now. Stolen from
who_in_whoville and
kilodalton.
Give me a top five topic that is fandom-related, personal, random, whatever, and I'll list my top 5 for whatever you listed and will explain my choices. Top five of right now or top five of all time! For example, top 5 books, top 5 otps, top 5 colors, anything!
Since I'm leaving this entry unlocked, comments will be screened until I answer them.

Date: 2011-11-24 03:43 am (UTC)2. My Cacique Barely There bras. They do not make these anymore. I will wear them until they die. Nothing is more comfortable.
3. My Disneyland 2009 zip up sweater with pockets. I wear this pretty constantly in spring and fall when I go outside. It's the perfect thickness and does well for anything but rain. If it's cold enough in the winter I will wear it under my coat, too.
4. My new, black, sensible shoes (which replaced my old, black, sensible shoes). They fit well, have great arch support, and I can spread my toes in them without touching the sides. This is very important for wide feet (thanks, Dad).
5. My dark red chenille duster (mid-thigh length sweater). It is warm and soft and totally pettable. I wear this around the house on cold days or sometimes just throw it over my lap watching tv. It is like comfort food, only for wearing instead of eating.

Date: 2011-11-24 03:59 am (UTC)1. Disneyland. Disneyland was, is, and probably always will be my favorite place to go. I love the atmosphere, I love the rides, I love the characters and the brightness and how clean it is. (The only thing I would change is to make it illegal to smoke inside the grounds, or at the very least confining it to very limited areas within the park.)
2. The Grand Canyon. Mind-bogglingly beautiful, vast, and full of Native American ruins.
3. Canyon de Shelley (pronounced da shay). The archeological remnants of Native American cliff dwellers, the desolate beauty of the canyon itself, and the wonderful local guides who spin vivid stories as they tour us around.
4. The South Dakota Badlands. An amazing natural phenomenon and a wonderful place to go if you have even the smallest interest in geology. The way the land folds around itself and the colors it produces makes it one of the most beautiful places I've ever gone.
5. The Ocean. Yeah, not specific, but I don't care. Anywhere along the ocean where it is clean and beautiful and you can squish sand between your toes and smell the fresh sea air.

Date: 2011-11-24 04:25 am (UTC)1. "I could save the world, but lose you." "Do it." Oh, my heart. That moment, that precise moment, I fell in love with the Doctor and Rose as the beginning of a couple. The looks that passed between them were magical. And people can call Rose selfish all they want, but she was willing to give up her life to save her planet in that moment. She's not selfish on the big things.
2. His hand. Her hand. The word, "Run." And then the running. That first moment of meeting the Doctor again after such a long, long hiatus, couldn't have been more perfect and came to symbolize the rest of the series of the RTD era so perfectly.
3. Doomsday, when the Doctor and Rose each have their face pressed against opposite sides of the wall like they can still feel each other. I know that's a weird favorite moment, but it breaks my heart and does more than just about anything else that has come before it (other than Parting of the Ways) to show how much they love each other.
4. The kiss. Which one, you ask? Parting of the Ways. The purity of it, the love of it, the surety of it.
5. The Stolen Earth when Rose and the Doctor see each other again for the first time. The sheer joy and love they radiate as they run for each other.
Honorable mentions: The "Turn of the Earth" speech. Jack and Rose dancing on an invisible space ship beside Big Ben. Donna and the Tenth Doctor seeing each other again in Partners in Crime and having that whole mimed conversation through the windows before getting noticed. The Doctor seeing Bad Wolf written everywhere at the end of Turn Left. Martha telling the Doctor she was getting out and why.

Date: 2011-11-24 04:39 am (UTC)2. Rose--Rose Tyler swinging on the chain to save the Doctor from the Autons.
3. Doomsday--Rose Tyler taunting the Daleks and telling them how she wiped out their Emperor.
4. Dalek--Rose turning from the closed door to face her fate at the hands of the Dalek. Her bravery in that moment.
5. Satan Pit--When Rose uses the bolt gun (or whatever it was) to shoot out the window of the space craft so Toby goes flying out into the vacuum of space. Total badass moment.

Date: 2011-11-24 08:52 pm (UTC)2. My brain. Technically it's a portable hard drive, but I call it my brain. Which can lead to some odd conversations.
"Honey, have you seen my brain?"
"Did you check in the dresser drawer?"
3. Salad Shooter. Who needs a food processor? And much easier to clean.
4. Garlic press. It just makes cooking so much easier, and garlic is the stickiest thing to deal with.
5. George Foreman grill. Makes cooking meats so much faster, with no oil and drains the fat. Easy to clean, as well.
