amberfocus | New Fic: Counting

A/N: I wrote this to kickstart my muse. I think it may be borderline crack. I'm not ready to take a serious shot at a fix-it or a true life after fic for the Nu!Ten/Rose pairing, but this semi-silly, semi-serious take on it really has helped me a bit. Non-explicit sex and many run-on sentences to indicate state of mind (no, not mine, though maybe...). Thanks to amy067 for the beta.

Counting

The first thing they did was shag. This man, this Doctor, who had become Dr. John not Smith but Noble, because he wasn’t really the Doctor even though he was, and because he had loved Donna, but not in the way he loved Rose, and because he was more than only a man with the Doctor’s memories, but would never be quite a Time Lord again, and because he had the actual ability not just to feel, but to say the words I love you; this man and Rose Tyler shagged.

It didn’t move mountains and it certainly wasn’t all that impressive. It ended rather quickly and it seemed to be caused more by shock and grief and perhaps a bit of payback against the man who had abandoned them both more than anything else like lust or love or happiness, which was silly when the other Doctor couldn’t actually see them or know what they were doing, and neither one of them would ever actually admit hurt and anger might have anything to do with this at all. But it wasn’t actually bad either, not for a first attempt, fumbling like virgins on the sofa in her living room, and they were both pretty sure they’d get better at it as they went along. Sure enough, anyway, to laugh a little at their clumsiness and try again an hour later.

The second bout was a bit better and happened on her bed. It lasted longer, was far less awkward, all of their clothes made it off, and this time she came, too, but there was an unease between them, like somehow they were doing something wrong. Rose felt like she was cheating on her Doctor and this Doctor felt like Rose was looking at him and really seeing someone else. Which she was. And wasn’t. It was entirely too confusing.

That didn’t, however, stop them from shagging a third time later that evening after some proper rest and a bath, not together, though she’d almost been tempted because he’d be more convenient than a bath brush at getting those hard to reach places, but in the long run she’d thought he’d want to have sex in the tub and that would just be awkward and uncomfortable so she ruled him out, shut the door and locked it.

Instead Rose used the time to try to forget that she’d gotten a happily ever after, just not the one she’d actually wanted. One she could live with, of course, with her new, new, new randy Doctor, but not what she had hoped for. So when they had sex this time it was only because he asked rather firmly for it in a way that included thrusting his hips against her and allowing her to feel just how much he still wanted her.

She said yes because when he looked at her like that with such longing and a dark sexiness she’d only ever seen in her very first Doctor, not to say that her second hadn’t had a lighter sexiness she’d adored, but honestly if she was going to compare…anyway, she couldn’t deny him anything. She didn’t want to.

But she wasn’t really paying attention, hadn’t quite engaged in this new reality and she was just going through the motions until halfway through when she suddenly noticed his technique had improved and he’d adjusted himself in such a way as to suddenly bring her intense pleasure, and she was almost surprised that her body chose to climax of its own accord a moment later. He was getting better at this and she decided that maybe she ought to be staying in the moment and not letting her mind wander quite so much.

The fourth time she focused when he insisted that if they were going to keep doing this, and he really wanted to keep doing this, had gotten quite fond of it quite quickly in fact, and she seemed not to object to it, either, then he rather needed to learn her body properly so he could become an expert in the field of Rose Tyler’s sexual responses, because he didn’t like the idea of being bad at anything merely from lack of experience or practice, and it would really help him get better at it if she would at least pay attention.

When she agreed with just a hint of being ashamed of herself for being so distracted, and a lot of enthusiasm as she remembered the end of the third time, he set out to do just that, telling her that he was going to taste her body from head to toe and grinning at the giggle his comment elicited and laughing at her quip that he could put his oral fixation to good use for a change particularly right there, before turning much more serious at the moans he was able to elicit from her as he did just that.

She, of course, being a rather competitive woman decided to return the favor in kind, making him lose all sense of self-control, but not until after he’d given her two orgasms. Thus it was that once she’d paid him back and gotten him hard again, the fourth time was spent completely there with him without distraction; with his arms wrapped around her and her legs wrapped around him and her mind tuned fully in and it turned out to be rather spectacular.

After that Rose Tyler stopped counting.
