You guys really don't have any idea how much you cheer me up on a daily basis.  It is a lovely thing to have such good f-listers who genuinely care so much, even when I don't have the energy to even answer you back.  I am doing a bit better today.  I have kept my food down since around noon.  I have completely stopped taking the narcotics and have gotten permission to just use Ibuprofen, which does not seem like much in the face of oxycodone or hydracodone, but it's five days post-surgery and the pain has lessened enough that unless I move too fast or wrong, or pull against the surgical site, it is bearable with multi-icepacks changed out every few hours.  So even if it is 400 mg of Ibuprofen at least it's helpful because the food seems to be staying put.  Also the fever is down a bit.

I am still doing a mosty liquid diet though.  I am not entirely sure I trust this thing called digestion just yet.  But Chris went down and got me egg flower soup from Hong Kong Garden, which at least has protein in it with the egg, and I've had two bowls today and they seem to be agreeable to me.  I always get it when I have the stomach flu, so maybe my body has just been tricked into believing it is a cure for this sort of thing.  I am considering the vanilla pudding or Jello for my next trick.

It is just such a relief for my body to rest and not go through that sort of violence.  It literally wrecks you to be sick like that.  I feel like I've been through a war inside myself.

It is not hot here.  It has not really even been summer yet here except maybe 3 days in June.  I am glad of it considering the heat waves so many of you are having.  I am hot, mostly the fever, but the ice packs seems to help keep the overall body heat down, too.  I hope it stays that way because there is no air conditioning in this house.

All right, I am getting sleepy, but I wanted to let you all know that things are a little better.

I am glad to hear you are feeling better today! :) I had to giggle at the mention of your egg flower soup. I seem to recall that being a constant for you. Hahaha Glad to hear it's staying down...

Get well soon!

Oh, there is something so good about salty soup when you aren't feeling well, isn't there? Glad that you have been able to keep some more-substantial food down today. Getting onto straight ibuprofen is also a great step. Every day gets a little better, right? Hope you are getting the rest that you need.

Egg flower sounds really great right now... and it is 1:34 in the morning. (My brain still thinks I'm on Seattle time even though I'm back Where George Walked.)

HUGS!

Ugh, stomach problems are just the worst! Whenever I get stomach flu--which, fortunately, isn't often--I don't feel like eating for days afterward and have to talk myself into it. I distinctly remember a few years ago, after having stomach flu, literally talking to my stomach and promising it anything it wanted, just so long as it would tell me what sounded good. It grudgingly allowed that pasta might be all right.

Good on your hubby for being a good hubby and bringing you your lovely soup. Have you tried ginger tea? Whenever my tummy gets crabby, ginger settles it right down.

Hope you feel better soon, hon!

No heat wave for me; the weather is rubbish.

I'm so glad to hear that the pain has lessened! Nothing makes me crazier faster than several consecutive days in horrible pain and discomfort! I begin to feel as if it will ALWAYS be like this and then start to lose perspective. Yay for your husband and egg flower soup! When I feel rotten, mine makes me egg drop soup with elbow macaroni, egg and Parmesan cheese. Here's hoping the pudding stays down, too.
Wishing you rest and piles of fun DVDs to watch.
:)

Sorry I haven't been commenting. I'm so sorry to hear you've been having such a rough time with your health generally, and since the surgery. I hope this really is the beginning of better times.

Here, have a little gift.

Tribal Customs

“If you’re so clever, how come you didn’t know that was gonna happen?”

The Doctor sighs, giving Rose a long-suffering glare. “Don’t know every custom on every planet in the universe, do I?”

She’s not fazed. “Why not? You’re the one who’s nine hundred and a genius!”

“Yeah, I am.” Now he’s defensive. “That doesn’t mean I know every trivial detail about every single tiny, unimportant species there is!”

Rose glances down at the matching tassels tied around their wrists. “Just this one would’ve helped.”

“What, don’t want to be my wife?” He smirks, and pins her against the console.

I'm really glad you liked it! If I didn't owe someone another auction fic, besides being so crazily busy at work that I'm answering emails at home in the evening, I'd see whether I could write more - but as it is, I'm glad it made you smile :)

The road to recovery and you are on it! So glad to hear things are improving, even just a little. The directional arrow is important.

Take care of you!

Oh good, I'm glad things are at least a bit better. I've been thinking about you a lot today today - whenever I wanted to gripe about cramps and/or this stupid head cold, I'd think... stop complaining and think good thoughts for Amber instead!
