My surgery went very well, with a best case scenario of transplantation of my own tissue from inside the body and not outside the body or from a donor.  The doctor was very happy with the results.  I will have to see him in two weeks and then again a week after that.  I had thought it would just be one more trip, but no, I'll have to go down twice.  He says it will take about four months to heal all told and then we will talk about the second surgery in November depending on how much of the problem is still left.

They were able to remove all of the invasive tissue and scar tissue and the support mesh that had grown through the tissue and was causing problems.

I had the best nurses and nurse's aides.  Nurses can make or break a hospital stay for you.  It is always worth your while to be extra polite and kind to your nurses and nurse's aides because they will be your lifeline.  And I had a male nurse who more than made up for the idiot male nurse I had with my hysterectomy years ago.  He restored my faith in the fact that there can be good male nurses out there.

I did have a bad turn for a bit when the catheter wasn't draining.  It turned out it had gotten blocked and so everything was distended, but they flushed it and it immediately started working again.  The pain was pretty bad for a while, but they drugged me up good.  I also threw up everything I ate yesterday until about ten o'clock when finally the jello stayed down.  It was a bad reaction to the anesthesia.  I usually have one, but not so bad as this.  I am okay now though.  Just still terribly itchy.  They gave me allergy meds for it, but it still itches.

Of course I threw up my sleeping pill so I didn't really sleep last night and I got pretty hungry until I could order breakfast at 7.  Plain toast, milk, and canned pears.  They stayed down and so has everything since.

The ride home was a bit rough.  There was a lot of roadwork going on which made it painful because of all the bumpiness.  We tried to take surface streets instead of the freeway but they were doing roadwork there, too.  I dozed a bit in self-defense.  Eventually we got home, though.

I am on bedrest for the next week or so.  At least I won't have to get up much at all, the only bright side to being stuck with a catheter for a couple weeks.  But if the end result is a fully functioning bladder and two fully functional kidneys (and no malfunctioning liver), it's worth it.

P.S. Thanks to everyone who prayed for me and sent me healing vibes and thoughts.  They were much appreciated and I am sure they helped me every step of the way.

are they giving you a morphine based pain killer? That can cause the itchiness and allergy meds don't tend to help because it's actually a side effect of it seeping out your pores rather than an allergic reaction.

*hugs*

I'm glad things went well :) and wish you a speedy and restful recovery!

I am glad your surgery went well and you are home safe and sound. I usually ask for phenergan with any anesthesia. Vomiting after surgery is terrible! You might consider asking since you know you'll be going under the knife again later this year?

Take it easy for a while and try to rest.

I'm glad the surgery went well, even though the bad reaction to anesthesia sounds very not fun. I'm happy all the food is finally staying down though. I'll keep praying for you. Enjoy your bed rest!

So, so glad the surgery went home and you're able to recuperate at home. I know that can be tough when you're a mom, because you want to do stuff for people, but stay in bed!!!

So very glad to hear that the surgery went well! Here is praying that your healing speed leaves the doctors amazed at the super speed. In the mean time hang in there, I know recuperation can be such a pain (both physically as well as mentally.)
