Shippy Moment

I was desperately in need of some shippy goodness today so I was trawling around on youtube and found this bit of Rose/Nine loveliness and thought I'd share.  It has some angst, but there's so much obvious love there, it left me with a great feeling.

It's been a while since I actually watched any S1, and I was wondering whether I had built up their relationship/chemistry in my mind. Watching this only reminded me that it was just as surprising and intense, even when you know it's coming. And I hate that song, so that's working uphill!

No, their realtionship/chemistry was very, very strong. I don't know how anyone could ever deny it was there, yet people do.

I really don't get the denial. I suppose a lot of it comes from people who are too young or immature to see the sexuality of the two of them, or people who don't find CE attractive themselves and therefore project it at the screen - although I think it's probably willful denial. I think Ten and Rose had a much more conventional, constructed chemistry, but it felt more matey than sexy; it felt adolescent and a step backward, which didn't work for me. I wasn't looking for sexy with CE and BP - in fact, I thought they'd try to avoid it — but it simply wasn't possible not to see it for me. That said, their chemistry is this odd combination of subtlety, innocence, and OMGSHAGNOW! The other thing I don't get is those who miss the sheer, playful fun of Nine/Rose and act as if it was all angst all the time, or that Nine thought himself unworthy of her. I saw it more as denial/self-punishment than a sense of unworthiness.

That started to become an essay, but it's something I've wondered about, probably because I always seem to be drawn to the more complex relationships.
