amberfocus: (Ten and Rose--Tooth and Claw)

Here are the rest of the drabbles from my second drabble spree.  These are mostly Ten/Rose, but there is one with Donna as well, since I didn't want to make a fifth post tonight.

Breath of Life

The Doctor’s chocolate brown eyes are huge and his lip trembles as he holds back his emotions. Rose searches frantically through the first aid kit, desperate to find what she needs to fix his collapsed lung. The Doctor’s gasps, the pain of it almost more than he can stand. His respiratory bypass has failed.

“Please!” Rose cries out in desperation, finally dumping the kit upside down. “Yes!” She grabs up the syringe and frantically rips his shirt open.

“Here,” he manages to point and with a deep breath she stabs the needle through his chest.

They breathe together in relief.

Mistake

“It was a mistake,” the Doctor says. If he could count his regrets one by one they might rival the stars in the sky, but this one—.

“I know,” Rose says softly.

“I shouldn’t have—I didn’t mean to—Rose, I—.”

She cuts him off, pulling him into her arms and burying her face against the warm pinstripes of his shoulder.

“I know,” she repeats.

“It was stupid and I’m sorry. You’re the only one I want.”

“If it took this for you to see it, then I’m glad of it.”

“Oh, Rose.”

“I’m never gonna leave you.”

For [livejournal.com profile] yavie_namarie  who wanted Ten and Donna and kleptomania.  Very loosely intepreted.

Kleptomania

“So is that what you did then?” Donna asks flipping through a photo album in the library and looking at yet another bright and shiny face. “Kidnapped young girls, took them around the universe? Have you got some kind of teenager kleptomania? See a pretty girl and have to pick her up?”

“Most of my companions were in their early twenties,” the Doctor says defensively.

“Most of the time you looked like an old man. That doesn’t make it much better.”

“It wasn’t like that.”

“How old was Rose?”

“I was nineteen,” Rose says laughing merrily.

“I rest my case.”

I love the variety of moods in your three pieces. Can I just say it absolutely tickled me to hear Rose pipe up and answer for herself in the last one.

Oh, I love a good drabble; with so few words, you can really pack a punch. Direct hit, Amber! :)
