30 Day Love Meme
Dec. 21st, 2010 01:15 pmLet's see how well I do with this one, shall we? Stolen from
arabian.
Day 01--What is your current favorite ship?
Doctor/Rose (Nine, Ten, or Ten2, I do not care, I ship them all). That's probably a big duh for everyone on my f-list. I don't know, there's just something about their relationship that I've found to be more satisfying than anyone elses on television. Maybe it's the fact that they are just such good friends underneath everything. That kind of friendship you rarely, if ever, find in television couples. Maybe it's the fact that they fight like real people fight, and make up like real people make up. Maybe it's that they would do anything for each other selflessly. Maybe it's the chemistry that Billie Piper had with both Christopher Eccleston and David Tennant. Maybe it's that they are the only couple that has ever inspired me to seriously write fanfic (though Jareth/Sarah from Labyrinth and Kyle/Elizabeth from the original V series and Buffy/Spike from Buffy each have one story to their names that will never see the light of day, thank you very much, the first two being written in high school and the last one long since lost on a dead hard drive and totally jossed by season seven anyway.) Maybe it's the way they always had these amazing smiles geared specifically for the other. Maybe it's the fact that their on-screen relationship was never consummated (or if it was we never got to see it).
I think the tragedy of them will forever linger in my mind. So much loss occurred in their relationship. Doomsday will likely always be the pinnacle to me of the saddest breakup in all TV history. Their eventual reunion gave us like...five seconds of happiness. And their happily ever after was not exactly happy for everyone. ("Here, Rose, have a clone of me. Bye-eee." Vworp, vworp, vworp. Except there was no Bye-eee, even.) Still, it was the best we were ever going to get from a series like Doctor Who and I like to think Rose and Ten2 accepted things after a few hours of cursing Ten out and are happy together and consummating things quite frequently.

Anyway, I am shocked at your answer, because I never would've guessed... *giggles some more* Seriously, though, I love hearing people distill the reasons behind their love for a ship! :D ♥!
