Life Update

Not much going on today.  I didn't even open a Word file.  I was planning to write all day and that just sort of didn't happen.  Just one of those rare days when I didn't want to.  I watched the first four episodes of Farscape instead with an ice pack on my knee even though it feels better than yesterday.  I'd forgotten how much I loved Claudia Black as Aeryn Sun.  Also, I'd forgotten how baby faced Ben Browder was.  I don't remember him being that baby faced on Stargate so maybe as he aged it went away.  I still adore John Chriton just as much as ever.  The Doctor and Rose should really land on Moya some time.  Can you imagine the TARDIS communing with a Leviathan?  They have so much in common.  They'd be like best girlfriends or something.  I've often wondered if the creators of Farscape didn't have fan roots in Who.  I'm pretty sure RTD was a Farscape fanboy what with the whole Cloen thing.  Actually the TARDIS coral reminds me a bit of the support structures in the Leviathan's corridors.

Went to the pool today.  I only swam 26 laps as I didn't really want to push my knee further than a 1/2 mile.  It didn't seem to strain it to swim today though I'm still not kicking fully with that leg.  More than I did on Saturday, though.  I'm still going to call the doctor tomorrow and see if he wants to do anything about it or just play it by ear.

Tomorrow is early release from school.  I don't know why.  They've only been in school like 3 weeks now.  Probably some teacher workshop or something.  I didn't bother to look it up on the school calendar as I don't really care why.  Just means my day is going to be all weird.  Going in to get a massage tomorrow and having her work mostly on the quad that is locked up.  That usually helps.  I hope it does.  I want to walk like normal again.

Glad to hear the knee is doing a little bit better at least. Hopefully the message helps some more.

ETA: Funny you should mention Farscape (FIC REC ALERT!), during challenge 50 over at then_theres_us, tvconnoisseur wrote a response using one of my prompts called Happy Endings that featured a fair good references to FARSCAPE as a TV Show (with Ten/Rose watching it) and made a fairly good number of parallels between Who and Farscape in the course of it. I did make the joke in my feedback about RTD using the Johns as the basis for the meta crisis. I also drew some parallels with Nine/Rose and John/Aeryn's origns in comments to somebody else. (in particular the fact that Nine and Aeryn are the hard bitten soldiers while Rose and John are the ones thrown out of their relative innocences into sitations far beyond what they've seen before).

I knwo there are a few Who/Farscape crossovers on Teaspoon, but I would love to see a few more.

I keep coming across Farscape references these past few days. I wonder if the universe is trying to tell me something. I haven't done anything in that fandom for quite some time, though it will always be near & dear to my heart. I seriously think Browder's and Black's onscreen relationship may be the best onscreen chemistry I have ever seen between two actors.

Re: early release days - I find it interesting that the charter school where my daughter attends does not do them. They're either open for the full day or they're closed, and there are no days off for teachers' workshops or parent-teacher conferences or any of that.

It's like the fandom's coming out of a regenerative coma. I think I like it. We're getting references, crossovers, and icons. It's nice to see this kind of revival. I so agree about Browder/.Black. I was a bit bummed they couldn't quite recapture it on SG-1.
