Anyone Want a Drabble?

I'm procrastinating so I thought I may as well offer up some drabbles,
ladychi style. But I'll put a number limit on it. First ten people to leave a pairing and a one word prompt will get a drabble. I might do more if I happen to get more, but I only promise the first ten. Because I am being brave (or possibly crazy) I will write in fandoms in addition to DW.
For DW fandom, Doctor/Rose (any version), Mickey/Martha, Donna Noble, or Jackie/Pete.
For Fringe fandom, Peter/Olivia, Astrid, Walter.
For The Vampire Diaries fandom, Damon/Elena or Caroline/Matt.
For Eureka fandom, Zane/Jo or Fargo/Jo or Jack Carter/Allison Blake.
For Castle fandom, Richard Castle/Kate Beckett or a Castle and Alexis father daughter prompt.
Also, does anyone know where I can buy maltose (malt sugar)? Like does a regular grocery store have it? I want to make homemade char sui sauce because all the store bought stuff has red food coloring (and other crap) in it and we can't have that with T's allergies. I found a fabulous looking recipe, but if I need to go to an Asian food market I'd like to be pointed in that direction.

Brilliant red rubies light up the twilight and Rose stands stunned as the giant insects litter the air. Their gleaming bellies are bigger than her body as they flutter through the night sky.
She relaxes into him, then—“Ooo!” she gasps.
He grins and she smacks him. “What? Never said I didn’t bite.”

He can tell she’s cold by the way she shivers.
“Keep me warm.”
He slips off his jacket and wraps the warm, supple, black leather about her, pulling her into his arms, sharing his own meager warmth.
She shudders and sighs and turns in his embrace. He feels her lips on his throat. Flames of a different sort roar into life.

Date: 2010-08-29 07:20 am (UTC)He’s got her back, but all she can do is watch the other him go. He’s afraid, so afraid that this is it for them, that this isn’t going to work.
“It’ll be okay,” she says. Her hand squeezes his as she offers him comfort. Her smile is tremulous, but all foreboding fades. He smiles back.

Date: 2010-08-29 07:37 am (UTC)Rose answers him with a violent sneeze and a watery smile. “Awful.” She glances at the gently steaming chicken soup, tea, and toast he’s brought her.
“Think you can eat?”
“Dunno.” She sneezes again and he hands her a tissue. She honks loudly into it.
“Sounds like a hornbleck’s mating call.” She bats his arm. He grins.
“You’ll have to take me to see them, if I don’t die of this.”
“It’s just the common cold.”
“Got a cure?”
He kisses her.
“Feel better already.”

Date: 2010-08-29 08:05 am (UTC)He turns on the lamp. The fury on her normally gentle face astounds him. There is another explosion waiting for him tonight just beneath her surface.
“You could have died!”
He holds her and hopes she can forgive his recklessness.

Date: 2010-08-29 08:19 am (UTC)It’s December 17, 1903 and they’ve arrived at Kitty Hawk, North Carolina in time for the first flight of the Wright brothers and they’re just hovering in the TARDIS.
“They might recognize me,” he admits.
“What?”
“It was me suggested they use a biplane,” he says. “Might have…helped them tweak the design a bit.”
“What happened to not interfering with fixed points in time?”
The Doctor shrugs. “Some points are more fixed than others?” he asks innocently.
Rose rolls her eyes.
“Just watch.”
It only lasts 12 seconds, but it’s amazing nonetheless.

Date: 2010-08-29 08:37 am (UTC)“What are you doing?” she asks and he jumps, the pen streaking across the paper in an ugly red line.
“You startled me,” he says peevishly looking down at his ruined artwork.
“Sorry.” She tugs the blankets off her and offers him her stomach instead. With glee he puts
the guide ring on her, the circle inside it, and tickles a new design onto her skin.

Date: 2010-08-29 08:58 am (UTC)The Doctor doesn’t respond, pulling his boots carefully out of the muck one by one.
“Prettiest tropical planet ever, Rose, he says. Why’s it—?”
The only way to shut up her complaining is to grab her by the shoulders, push her up against a tree, and give her a thorough snogging. Now she has something else to think about. And he can think in peace.

Contentment washes over her at his happiness.
He turns his head and beckons her forward.
Best thing about this bathtub is it’s big enough for two.

Date: 2010-08-29 06:04 am (UTC)Well I'm in Australia so I won't be that helpful but I can tell you that one of my local supermarkets does stock it - (bearing in mind I live in a rural city of about 29000 residents) the other two do not - they have it in the health foods section, so you might find it in a health foods store as well.

Date: 2010-08-29 09:39 am (UTC)She’s more than a babysitter for the shattered husk of a once monstrous man.
They don’t see him like she does. Brilliant despite his brain injury. Childish and selfish because of it. So full of love for those who look after him, so trusting. So easily wounded with that trust betrayed.
“You’re the only one who can see me.”
She agrees that it’s true, unless he’s talking to the cow again. Sometimes she thinks he’s the only one who can see her. Friendship is such a shallow word for kindred spirits.
