15.5 Laps!

I am moving right along on my goals at the pool, which is awesome.  The last day I went swimming was the 13th and I did 12.  Now my goal is just to do one more than the previous time each time I go, but I felt so good after doing 13 that I just wanted to keep going.  It feels so good and I feel stronger every day.  Actually, I wanted to keep going after doing 15.5, but things were getting really rowdy in the pool outside of the lap lane and I was worried one of my kids was going to get hurt by the unsupervised kids in the pool if i wasn't with them.

It really, really irritates me when parents sit in the hot tub the entire time and just let their kids run wild in the pool.  It's called family swim not "lazy parents who don't pay attention and crazy kids" swim.  Especially older kids who throw every single floaty thing known to man into the pool and then just ignore them and let them float all over the place, hog as much space as possible despite other people having been there first, have giant splash wars, and don't know how to fricking kick under the surface of the water when they swim.  Or who continuously jump into the pool without making sure there is enough space to do so and that they aren't splashing every person in the pool besides their siblings/friends.  There were too many people there today for that kind of wild behavior.  There were a lot of little kids who were getting facefuls of water and coughing on them.  The lifeguard talked to the older kids five or six times that I counted, but did not kick them out.  Me, I'm like two warnings and that's it, get out.  That's with my own kids.

I taught my kids how to behave in the water a long time ago.  I'm not anti-splash war or jumping in, you just need to be aware of other people and have some consideration.  My kids do.  Your kids can, too, random health club members.  The pool rules are very clear on supervising your kids in the water. *sighs*  Not that it was being enforced in this heat.  I am looking forward to when school begins and I can go lap swim during the day when there are no kids in the pool.  /rant

I still feel really amazing though.  Yes, all that was irritating but I'm not walking around feeling all ticked off.  I have an endorphin high from the exercise, which is really cool.  Okay, I'm off to drop the eldest at the library for a club meeting and then make dinner (grilled chicken and fresh green breans, yum), and then it's writing lke a fiend time again. Yay.  I love it when the muses are cooperative. *grins*  This keeps up and I might finish a chapter of LoF for tomorrow.

Ah, I love those highs! :)
Your mood increases a lot and you feel like you can do anything! Not even chocolate can beat that! (though I've been craving it a lot lately...)

I gave up on swimming in pools a long time ago. Not only because of the kids but especially because of the urine in it. I once saw a show on TV where they explained that the water only smells of chlorine when the chemical reacts with urine ~.~
That put me off for life and I only swim in lakes and the sea now. Might be different when I have kids one day, but right now I'm avoiding it as much as I can XD

Yay! I love that little endorphin rush you get after exercising. Now, if only I could get off my lazy ass to get it.

I can't stand when other people don't watch their kids. I've got an aunt & uncle and a sister like that and it drives me crazy!!!!

It is so motivating reading these regular posts about your swimming! I swam competitively as a kid and in college, and I miss it like crazy. But just reading your posts motivates me to do what I can do to get myself in shape and fit again. Keep it up! I'm cheering for you!

And I hear ya on the upsupervised kids thing. I continually baffles me how many parents seem to look at playgrounds, restaurant playlands, and the like as substitutes for proper supervision. Baffles and annoys.

Hooray for cooperative writing muses!
