A Bit of Writer's Block

Well, I'm sure you've noticed no story updates in two days. I've had a bit of a block, but it's past now. I've got a few chapters off with my beta and will have at least one of them back tonight or early tomorrow, she promises.
Meanwhile I've been on an Andromeda binge. I think I've watched at least twenty episodes of seasons 1& 2 in the past four days. A lot for someone who doesn't watch much TV. Probably a lot for someone who does, too. I never got into the whole Hercules/Xena thing (though I reserve the right to do so at a future date) so I never really saw Kevin Sorbo in anything before, and I really like him. He's a good actor. Actually the whole cast is great. Harper reminds me of Wash from Firefly in actions and Kaylee in mechanical ability, only I guess it should be the other way round since Harper came first. Come to think of it, Trance is an awful lot like River and Kaylee combined, and Beka is a lot like Zoe. And Book is a bit like Rev Bem except the coming from a cannibalistic alien race part. Hmm...now I'm wondering if Whedon was an Andromeda fan.
Then I watched all of season one of Cracker. It's interesting. Christopher Eccleston is so young in it. He looks so different with that much hair, too. Still sexy, though, but just a touch more "pretty" than I'm used to seeing him be. His role wasn't too big in the first few eps, but as the season progressed he had a larger role. Hope that continues in season 2 and 3. Netflix says Revenger's Tragedy and Perfect Parents will ship tomorrow, so two more CE movies on their way. I was really bummed that they don't have Jude or I am Dina. I really want to see those. They're not on youtube, least not that I can find, other than a trailer or two and those look really, really good.
The kids finally caught that horrible thing I had last week and the week before. Neither of them have gone to school this week. Tobias thinks he can go tomorrow. Rose has an orthodontist appointment in the morning but thinks she can go back to school tomorrow, too. Here's hoping. It was a crummy weekend with them both feeling so awful. I hope they don't reinfect me because I don't think I could take it again.

Date: 2008-06-04 03:16 am (UTC)Oh, I can definitely put up more To Call Our Own. I'll do that soon. I meant to last night but got distracted. Moments in Darkness is on hold until after You're What? is done. Not sure there will be a sequel to Repercussions (but if there ever is, it'll be a long time down the road). The chapters Jep has in her possession right now are from You're What? and Hunger Moon. *grins*

Date: 2008-06-04 03:54 am (UTC)That was my first thought - good luck! And congratulations for getting through the weekend, that sounds grim.

I watched it again about a year ago, and I was shocked how much of a baby he was, even though I've always thought of him looking younger than he was - until he hit 40, and then he looked 40 (but then again, DW seemed to be very hard on him). Hang on with Cracker, it's a bumpy ride, but worth it.
If you're really interested in seeing Jude and I Am Dina, there might be ways...

Jude is wonderful, but widely regarded as the most harrowing movie ever by most people who've seen it. I Am Dina looks fabulous, and he does revolutionary poet exceedingly well, even if he's skinny as a rail.

Date: 2008-06-04 12:39 pm (UTC)Yeah, if you do a search for his name it'll pop up with everything they have that he's in, they have a lot of the more popular movies he was in. They also have some of his TV shows. Not all by a long shot, but some. One I liked that they had was The Invisible Circus, though I had to go and read the book afterwards. Not that the movie doesn't make sense, it does, but it made me want to delve much more deeply into it. They also have The Second Coming, that I've seen now. Weird, but good, if maybe sorta kinda sacrilegous, still haven't quite made up my mind on that score yet.

And I LOVED Repercussions and "To Call Our Own" - terrific!
Stay well, don't get sick again...
