Fic Update

Well, I'd been hoping to get a chapter of Leap of Faith done tonight, but I got sidetracked by, of all things, watching Food Network.  I didn't get the TV turned off right after American Idol ended, which normally I do.  I am still not used to having cable television available in real life and had forgotten what happens when you sit down in front of one.  It sucks out all of your desire to do anything else as you sit and stare blindly at it for however many hours it takes you to recover your brain again.  This is why I download only a few shows and try never to sit down in front of the tv set unless we're watching a DVD.  On the bright side there's a recipe for lamb souvlaki I'm eager to try now.  I think everyone will love it.

Anyhow, no more real time TV for me this week, except the last 5 minutes to see who gets kicked off Idol or I'll never get any writing done.  I've got between 2/3 and 3/4 of it done so I should be able to finish it tomorrow.  I hope.  No more distractions.

Yeah, I know exactly what you mean. When I was in grad school, I didn't have a TV but in my second year, a friend lent me his over the winter break while he went home for the holiday - I was staying in college. Anyway, I'd expected to get a lot of work done on my dissertation during the six weeks but instead I ended up watching a lot of stuff on the TV that I wasn't even all that interested in! I'd get up and turn it on while I got dressed, and end up watching for an hour or more. Or I'd come back from somewhere and instead of turning on my computer, I'd turn on the TV! I had planned to buy a TV in the January sales but after that experience, I decided not to!
