A/N:  For janna_hawkins on her birthday, a little late.  She wanted Nine and Rose going somewhere romantic.

Breathless

 

“The sand’s pink,” Rose says with delighted surprise.

She slips off her sandals, burying her toes in the sun-saturated warmth. She whirls toward the water, the skirt of her sundress flaring and giving him full view of her legs. He smiles as she sways and dances on the deserted beach. For a moment she halts her exuberant movements and she holds out a hand.

“Join me, Doctor?”

He takes off his boots and with a manic grin meets her on the sand. Together they spin, but it’s not why he’s left breathless. It’s always the dizzy joy of her smile.
