I've got this short story I've been writing off and on for, oh, say, six months now, and it keeps trying to turn itself into an OT3 fic with Nine/Rose/Jack.  What the hell?  I've never written OT3 (though I'll read it sometimes).  Every time I try to bring it back to center with just Nine/Rose with Jack in the background, Jack keeps reasserting himself and wanting in on things and Rose isn't arguing about it.  Since Nine is being oblivious to things at the moment, I kind of feel like he almost deserves to be usurped here.  I've never had this happen before.  It wasn't what I envisioned for this fic when I started it.  I may not have a choice though at this rate.  It is entirely possible that by the end of this fic I will have committed OT3.

Ooh, ooh....I would LOVE to read OT3 fic from you...especially with Nine!
Please go ahead...you know that bunny won't let go till you do!

I would love to see you write some OT3. That sneaky Jack - always getting in on the picture! I read and write loads of different ships - nothing wrong with a bit of variety. Go, Jack!

I agree with the other commenters: You'd do good Nine/Rose/Jack OT3. I don't read it often, but of most of the OT3 possibilities out there in the various fandoms I'm involved with this is one of the most believable ones.

However it turns out, I look forward to reading it!

But you don't like OT3. However, I have to agree with another of the comments. The bunny doesn't typically let go until it's been heard. The others are right. You'd do a great job.

*hugs*

It isn't that I don't like OT3, so much as I just don't like the way it's typically written, which is with one partner in the background being largely ignored, while the other two are the main focus. I do have my own OT3 after all of Mickey/Suzie/Jake in the BWY universe.

With OT3, so many times it'll be as if they've brought the third person in for a reward for doing a good job at something else. For me, OT3 has to be on equal footing, with all three players getting and receiving the same amount of love and affection as the others. There are only a handful of authors who seem to be able to do that and they are the only ones I will read Nine/Rose/Jack from.

My biggest issues are that I cannot write slash to save my life and that the majority of the time, unless it's done really well, I don't buy the Doctor and Rose being unselfish/unposssessive enough of each other to ever share with a third party. So you can see why something like this is giving me fits.

I can see your point. Because I have to agree that I have a hard time sometimes seeing them sharing each other with someone else.

I can see why it's giving you fits.

Well, I'm here if you need to bounce ideas.

Sounds like you've got Jack in character there. And you certainly won't hear me complaining about a Nine/Rose/Jack OT3. A little surprising coming from your muses, but hey doesn't hurt to see where it takes you.

Doooooo iiiiiiit! \o/ ;)

Think of it this way: it's not like if you write an OT3 then you can never, ever, EVAH go back and write Nine/Rose again or some such. (Perish the THOUGHT! O_O ) So why not try something a little different and out of your usual comfort zone on this one, just for the heck of it? :D You might find that it opens a new avenue of writing for you in the future or you might just find that one fic is all it takes to scratch the itch. Either way is definitely valid!

However it turns out, I'm sure it'll be great, so I'd say just have some fun with it and see where it takes you! :D *hugs* ♥!

Don't argue with the Muses - please!
Would love to see OT3 from you! I say go for it. The worst you could do is better than most, and you obviously have a story trying desperately to emerge. Let it loose!

I think you would do a great job. Write it and get it out of your system then that way you might never have to do it again. I agree though. I wouldn't even know where to begin with slash, really not my thing although I do like to read OT3 but there are some great ones out there and there are some not so great. A good story is where all three characters can be in union with each other and when you read them it just feels so right.

Good luck with it. If you write it you know we;ll all read it. If you don't we won't complain. Why should we when youalready blow our minds with your incredible stories already.

I will so second that sentiment. I mean I actually wrote *still boggles* a Doctor / Master bit (abet a female Master) that just would not let me loose until I let it see the sun. Then once out their the bunny ran away, (either that or I haven't been depressed enough), it's a massive angst fest! *shakes head at muses*

But anyway let it loose and maybe it will turn you loose, then again it may run over and bite someone else ankle, either way you will be rid of the little beastie and get back to the stuff you enjoy.

Not an OT3 girl at all here, but I agree--sometimes you just have a plot itch you need to scratch. The worst that can happen is you write it and don't like it. Not the end of the world! You can always go back to Nine/Rose if you want, or you can do Nine/Rose AND Nine/Rose/Jack. Every writer has had those odd "but I don't write that!" plot bunnies, and they only grow more rabid if you don't at least get them down on paper.

I'm a fan of well done OT3. And if I had to pick an OT3 that seems like it would actually work, its Nine/Rose/Jack. (Ten/Rose/Jack...meh)

I can sympathize with how hard it is when a plot bunny bites you and it starts to turn out a way you weren't expecting. I once wrote a story in my other fandom (House) that was my anti-ship. I tried so hard to write it for my ship, but it just wouldn't work, and in the end I had to write it with a different female character. The story itself is fine, and even other die-hard shippers agreed it only worked with this other coupling....but I really resisted it at the time. It's the only story like it I ever wrote. And then I went back to my regular happy shippy place! :)

So, to sum up, DO IT!! DO IT NOW!!!

Sneaky Jack is very very sneaky sometimes.

I do, however agree with everybody else. Sometimes you just have to write the bunny or it ends up taking over your life. Like others have said, it's not like once you write an OT3, you always have to write OT3, and you'll be able to focus better writing wise, once the bunny gets it's way.

Besides, I'm sure your OT3 will be as great as everything else you've written.

I think you're an amazing writer, and I've read things I normally wouldn't read (like Rose/Master) just because you wrote them. You're an excellent story-teller, and you always do justice to the characters. If this is what the characters are telling you the story is, go with it. My opinion may be a bit biased though, since I do read OT3 when it's well-done (and I am sure that anything you write would be).
