Real Thing

 

“Wake up, Rose.”

His voice is quiet, intruding vaguely into her dreams. She doesn’t dream of kittens and puppies nor white knights and fair damsels. There’s never that kind of sweetness or innocence. Instead she dreams of heroes and heroines, real people that leave the world a better place than it was before. Mostly she dreams of the Doctor, dreams of him now, and ignores the gentle whispered words that urge her from slumber.

“Don’t want to.”

A soft kiss graces her neck then finds her lips. She awakens, smiling. Dreams are lovely, but the real thing is always better.
