I'm taking a few days off from writing. My summer cold has turned into, or possibly been followed by, a nasty virus. There may be some crossover, actually as I still have the cough. Both Rose and I are down with it. Tobias, of course, as usual remains germ free. At least it's nice out and he can go play outside in the yard with his friends and I can rest.
Pain has settled in my rotator cuffs in the shoulders, the wrist, elbow, and knee joints, and my hips are killing me with a special kind of on fire hell. Food is disgusting. My stomach feels like a boulder has moved in and taken up residence. Nothing stays down for more than a half an hour. And we won't go into the rest of it. Just suffice it to say that all that I really feel like doing is laying in a dark room and watching Stargate Atlantis. Is it wrong of me to ship Rodney/Jennifer? Oh, well, I do.
If anyone wants to write me fluff I wouldn't say no. Or crack. Nine, Ten, or Ten2, preferrably with Rose, but Donna is okay, too if it doesn't go romantic. Failing that, tell me what is your favorite fluff story and what is your favorite crack story and linkies, please. No smut fics, unless it's incidental, as I'm totally not in the mood for it. Yeah, I know. I said I was sick.
This sickness gets it's own shiny new tag, even.

Date: 2009-07-01 12:33 am (UTC)Rose & The Doctor (Nine, Ten or Ten2)
She knows.
He says so much sometimes that you could almost miss the things he doesn’t say out loud. Babbling and bouncing through life, always moving. Never stopping as if in fear that if he stopped the weight of the universe – of being the Last of the Time Lords would crush him.
Rose Tyler doesn’t miss the things unsaid. She might be ridiculously young compared to him, compared to the universe that he shows her with such joy, but she knows.
Along with the knowledge of knowing what he doesn’t say, she knows that he will never speak the words; but it doesn’t matter because every single moment she spends with him she knows that she is loved.
It’s there in the way he holds her hand, and his thumb strokes her flesh gently – hidden from the prying eyes of the world. It’s there in the way he calls her “brilliant” and “fantastic” and “human”. The way his trans-dimensional pockets yield a variety of objects that he is unlikely to find useful himself – from scarves, hats and coats in varying shades of pink to her favourite gossip magazine (and on one memorable occasion a bikini, sundress and flip-flops that were definitely not intended to be worn by the Doctor).
Yes. Rose Tyler knows that the Doctor loves her; and that’s okay, because Rose Tyler loves the Doctor too.

Date: 2009-07-01 07:59 am (UTC)She's insane, he thinks; chuckling to himself and shaking his head. It’s pouring with rain. No, pouring doesn’t quite cover it; it’s torrential. Rain falling in what seems like sheets, raindrops bouncing as they hit the parched earth, rapidly turning the dust underfoot into mud.
She doesn’t seem to care though. She’s in the middle of the field soaking wet; twirling, leaping around and just loving the moment. She’s reveling in the welcome respite from the oppressive heat of the day. Her hair is plastered to her head and her clothes; the long flowing skirt and muslin shirt she wore to fit in with the locals, are drenched. What she doesn’t realize is how now soaked they are clinging to her body, translucent and revealing every curve, every contour of her lithe body.
He can’t tear his eyes away from her.
She meanders over to him, where he is sheltering under the outcropping of rocks. Beckoning him to join her, she mouths ‘come here’. He shakes his head; mumbling something about getting his jacket soaked in the rain. But then she tilts her head to one side and smiles that smile that turns him to mush. He shrugs off the jacket and walks towards her, taking her hand.
Within seconds he is as soaked as she is. Rain dripping off his nose and ears and soaking his jumper. She seems to sense the discomfort and she slips her hands underneath it and pulls it up and off. His arms wrap around her and suddenly it’s skin upon skin – almost; just thin, wet, muslin between them.
They dance in warm rain for a while, and then a little later, they dance again. Under the outcropping of rocks, laid out on his still dry jacket, while the heavens open and the rain falls around them.

Date: 2009-07-01 11:10 pm (UTC)The Doctor wandered into the living room to check on his oldest children. They had begged and pleaded to be allowed to sleep downstairs that night, Tony was staying over and they had all wanted to stay together, and Rose had reluctantly allowed them to bring their duvets and pillows into the living room, while the Doctor had been commanded to blow up an airbed for Tony.
Rose was checking on Jack upstairs and the older children had been told to settle down and get into bed, though he doubted they had, he planned to give them their first ‘one last warning’ of the night and meet Rose in the kitchen for some child free time.
He had barely stepped through the door, though, when the attack was launched. Before he knew what was happening Tomas had launched himself off the arm of the sofa and clouted him on the back of the head with his pillow. He turned and frowned at his five year old, but before he could reprimand him he found a similar assault coming at him from Aida and Tony.
He let out what was obviously a very manly squeal as they whacked at every inch of him until he fell backwards onto a chair. “Stop it,” he told them. It didn’t quite come off with the tone of discipline he had been hoping for and they made no attempt to desist.
“Get his head!” Tony commanded the others and the Doctor brought his arms up to cover his head.
He tried to give Tomas a stern look through the gap between his arms but his son’s response was to thwack his arms with his Bob the Builder pillow. He winced and wriggled further back into his chair, wondering where they had got the idea to beat him up with pillows from. They really should start monitoring their television viewing more closely. He scrunched his nose up at that. He sounded like one of those parents who blamed the media for their children’s faults and thought they were doing everything right.
He was beginning to ponder that thought when Aida’s bright pink Disney Princess pillow collided with the side of his head. “Ow!”
His pain only seemed to entertain the children more and they began to giggle more. Their laughter came to an abrupt halt, however, when the door opened and Rose walked in.“What do you think you’re doing?”
Instantly all three children dropped their pillows and the Doctor was given a clear view of his wife, hands on her hips and a terrifying Tyler scowl on her face. He cowered inwardly.
The children were staring at their feet, Tony looking more terrified than the others, who were disciplined by Rose often enough to know that she never stayed angry for very long.
He smirked as she winked at him and approached the children. They looked up at her guiltily and mumbled apologies. She grinned and lifted an abandoned pillow from the sofa, throwing it at the Doctor. He caught it, looking baffled. Rose grinned. “It’s not fair to start a pillow fight without giving your opponent a chance to defend himself,” she said.
They looked up at her, confused grins on their faces. She laughed and grabbed a pillow for herself, “Think you can take me and your dad on?”
“Rose,” the Doctor said, an unsure look on his face, “They’ll win.”
“Oh, where’s your fighting spirit?” Rose asked, holding her pillow up.
“I think I lost it when Tomas hit me on the head,” he said sulkily. He pushed himself upwards and stood reluctantly, unsure how exactly to go about holding the pillow. Pillow fights weren’t really something he was used to. It hadn’t exactly been night time sport of the millennia at the Academy the only pillow fights he’d really had were with Rose and they always started in bed and inevitably didn’t last very long.
Aida seemed ready to show him what to do though, as she hit his knee with the pillow, flashing him a sweet smile as she did so. He grinned a grin that he thought was vaguely menacing and charged after her across the room, not stopping to aid Rose, who was being attacked on two sides by Tomas and Tony.

Date: 2009-07-01 11:10 pm (UTC)Aida and Tomas turned to look at Tony, who shook his head. “It’s a trick. They’ll get us when they stop.”
“Alright Tony,” Rose said, resting her head against the Doctor’s shoulder tiredly, “you win. We surrender our weapons and we’ll take you to McDonald’s tomorrow if you put the pillows down.”
The Doctor hid a smirk as the children conferred before throwing their pillows down and collapsing atop of their parents. Tony jumped backwards rather impressively and landed on the sofa in a heap. He beamed over at his sister and her husband. “That was fun!”
“Oof,” was the Doctor’s detailed response as Tomas accidentally elbowed him in the stomach.
“I think,” he said a moment later, turning his head towards Rose, “that we should never, ever have a pillow fight again. In fact, I think that we should take all of the pillows out of the house. Just in case.”
She laughed and grabbed the nearest pillow, hitting him square in the face with it, “Shut up.”
