The water was warm and it felt good to her tired body, helping to soothe away the stress of the previous three weeks of working non-stop to save so many people from that devastating plague. Rose paused in the doorway to the library, a secret smile stealing over her face. The little three dimensional hologram of the baby was revolving above the sofa. Her husband was sprawled out underneath it, his eyes mesmerized by the sight. Watching the Doctor watching the baby gave her so much pleasure. How she loved this man!

“Well, that couldn’t possibly have gone any worse,” the Doctor muttered kicking angrily at one of the coral support struts. He swore as he missed the part of his boot that had the steel toe in it and connected with the side of his foot instead. The TARDIS hummed angrily at him. “Oh, don’t you start!” he snapped at the ship. He heard a sound behind him.

Chapter Twenty-eight:  Laying Claim

Finally there is no more we can do on Earth to aid in the recovery. The rest will be left to time. I kiss my mum and dad good-bye and insist on a quick trip to U.N.I.T. in the TARDIS to say good-bye to Benton and to Duncan Solomon, the name given to the young Kaled man. The Doctor informs me that Duncan means warrior and Solomon means peace. It is strangely fitting for this stranger I gave birth to.

One moment they were floating in bliss and in the next, time ceased to flow around them. “This isn’t good,” said the Doctor gently pushing Rose away from him and pulling on his clothing. “I’ll be back in a minute,” he said and rushed to the control room. The time rotor had frozen in place, its light clouded as if it were being viewed through ice.

Chapter Twelve:  Arrival at Sandoval

“We’ve arrived,” the Doctor said quietly catching Rose’s eyes across the console. She was curled up in the jump seat watching him with a steady, half-aroused look on her face. He didn’t know what had gotten into her. Well…he had, quite a bit lately actually, but anyway he liked it. He grinned at her and she smiled back in invitation.

“Honestly, Rose, we need to get checked in through customs first.”

“I didn’t say anything,” Rose said innocently.

“You looked it,” said the Doctor and she laughed.
