Insomnia Accomplishment and Musings

So I'm up with insomnia and I'm quite proud of myself because I have at last defeated the writer's block that had stymied Of the Vortex Born and I have written chapter 29 and sent it off to Teaspoon, where if I'm very lucky it will make it's way through the mod queue and actually be posted sometime tomorrow.  I'm hoping now that I've gotten the ball rolling again to post at least two chapters a week on it until it's finished.  I spent some time inside Luke's mind and it was fun.  He's quite an interesting character, so befuddled at times he really reminds me of the Doctor.  And I got the Doctor and Rose out of the frying pan I'd left them in.  Of course, out of the fying pan and into... *grins evilly and does not finish sentence*

“My name is Barbara Wright Chesterton. My late husband Ian for whom you are named,” she nodded at her grandson, “and I were the first two humans to travel with a strange old alien man called the Doctor. Only the Doctor.” She smiled at Rose. “We didn’t come on board voluntarily. He kidnapped us and then his ship refused to take us home! But despite all that, it was a glorious adventure travelling about time and space with him and his granddaughter. We came to respect the old man a great deal, though we never formed any deep affection for him.”

Chapter Fourteen:  Two Paths

It felt much like looking into the heart of her Doctor’s TARDIS had. Those memories unlocked completely for the first time. She marveled at the power she had possessed, the power over life and death, and how fearsome and wonderful it was. But this was so much more. She turned to look at Ian who was mesmerized by the green jewel sitting there, sending out little radiant waves of energy that would bang about the walls of the room.
