Frustrated
Apr. 17th, 2008 09:01 amI lost chapter eight of HM! I am so mad. Now I'm going to have to recreate it based on what I remember. Well mostly. I had sent the first 1000 words off to JeopardyFriendly to beta, so technically I only have to recreate about 1200 words, but argh! I hit the wrong stupid key and it deleted the thing. I did get 800 words done on the next angsty piece of Nine/Rose fic last night that I didn't lose. I've turned that into another series now, as if I needed another series. Ah, well. It's called Moments in Darkness, because most of it takes place in the dark in bed or in the dark inside their heads, and the moments are between episodes. Thought it went well.
The other choice was Moments Betwixt, which sounds stupid, or Moments Between, which sounds too much like lostwolfchats Journey's in Between. Not that there is any journeying going on in mine anyway, unless you count the emotional journey they're on. Anyway, if I'm very, very lucky I'll manage to get that one done today and the other one well on it's way to being recreated. Plus, promised wiggimomsi that I'd try to find some smut somewhere to write. Well, that's likely on hold. Sorry. Might be able to do a hot drabble. I've been thinking about those a lot since I was introduced to the artform but haven't tried one yet.
I made me a banner for Post Pomp last night. Didn't do more than add a title to a screen capture really, but for my first attempt, I like it. Ridiculous how cheery it makes me, considering how depressed poor Rose looks on it. But since she is depressed through the first half of the story, that's a good thing. And angelfireeast is making me a banner for chapter nine on when everything changes (and does everyone else have to complete that with an "and you've got to be ready" everytime they hear that phrase?). Yay! for angelfireeast.
And if that weren't enough I had to reschedule the fabric guard and paint guard being done on my new car for next week because there's a live electrical wire down blocking access to the highway. Now there is another route I could take out of the mountains but it would add about an hour to an hour and a half of driving time and I wouldn't get there until at least eleven or eleven thirty. So irritating. At least the school is right before the highway entrance. A lot of buses coming from that direction are stalled, but they were walking the kids the 1/8th of a mile through the far end of the school fence along the creek and around the back side of the school to avoid the wire.
On the positive side the old car is done being repaired. Another $500 and a new fuel pump later, and I knew it was the fuel pump to begin with, I said it was the fuel pump, but no, I'm just a girl, what did I know compared to the mechanic gods at the dealership?, it's running right. So now we have a working back up car again, that has has had $1300 worth of work done in the past five weeks. It's only worth about $1000, so I'm not best pleased, but life goes on. Now I just have to hijack my mother to go to the dealership and pick it up today. And then it gets to sit in her driveway for 3 weeks until DH comes home and I can get two cars home at the same time.
Despite all this stuff getting in the way of my life today, I'm in a good mood. Weird. Just woke up with a good, nothing's going to shake me mood. I'm totally over the flu now. And after two days of barfing kids who were well enough to go back to school finally today, the good mood is a nice thing. As long as I don't get the stomach virus they had, I don't see my mood changing too much.

Date: 2008-04-17 04:59 pm (UTC)I hope things get better. I had to keep my youngest home today. He's having increased seizures and the last few days has been more congested than normal, so I decided to keep him home and keep an eye on him.
GOod luck with all that work. I love reading your stuff and look forward to more. Thanks so much

Date: 2008-04-17 05:41 pm (UTC)Anyway, what with cars, kids, flu and wires on highways... I'm stunned that you have time to write anything. Oh, but I'm quietly squeeeeing over 'Moments in Darkness' -- oh yes I am. If you listen very carefully you might just hear me. ;)

Date: 2008-04-18 02:37 pm (UTC)But that's okay, I get to be home half the summer, and when I am I'm going to be taking over my sister's babysitting job, and all that lovely, lovely money is going towards a new laptop that doesn't piss me off with a million little problems.
(and maybe a new wireless mouse to, because I was just trying to use it and apparently it's messed up too!)
