What is the standard color for tarps in the U.K.?  Over here it's a sort of bright blue, though they do come in other colors like silver or green.

Oh, and maybe you call them something else.  Here a tarp, short for tarpaulin, is a waterproof sheet of canvas or heavy duty plastic that you throw over things to keep the rain off.  Like if you were hauling stuff in a truck or you wanted something to cover the woodpile.

We're lazy over here and just say, "tarp." I've never actually heard someone pronounce the whole word, "tarpaulin." I'm not even sure where the emphasis goes! XD
