So I'm up with insomnia and I'm quite proud of myself because I have at last defeated the writer's block that had stymied Of the Vortex Born and I have written chapter 29 and sent it off to Teaspoon, where if I'm very lucky it will make it's way through the mod queue and actually be posted sometime tomorrow.  I'm hoping now that I've gotten the ball rolling again to post at least two chapters a week on it until it's finished.  I spent some time inside Luke's mind and it was fun.  He's quite an interesting character, so befuddled at times he really reminds me of the Doctor.  And I got the Doctor and Rose out of the frying pan I'd left them in.  Of course, out of the fying pan and into... *grins evilly and does not finish sentence*

I'm thinking about what story I should bring over here next since I'm almost done putting up A Life Unexpected.  I think probably I'll bring over Post Pomp, which is Ten/Rose mid-season 2.  It's only 22 chapters.  23 if you count Post Pomp Post Script.  I could do Just Another Shop Girl, which is Nine/Rose season 1 and just 18 chapters.  I'll need to do that one before the second Time Eternal.  Not that I've brought any Time Eternal over here yet, though.  Still, I think PP is best to come next.

I think I may start working on Andromeda Rising again, too, though only at the pace of one chapter a week.  I have to rework a couple of things to fit with season 2 canon of Torchwood so Jack's past gels with what was revealed.  I'm not going to be completely in canon in the Jack's Path or Time Eternal series because of Owen, but that's fine.  I'm not going to change Owen's role in Time Eternal or eventual role in Jack's Path, just because of what RTD did.  But that's okay, I can be AU.

Spoilers...spoilers...spoilers...you have been warned!

How great was Fires of Pompeii?  How incredibly wonderful was Donna?  Oh, my goodness when it came time to make the decision to blow up Vesuvius and she put her hands on top of the Doctor's hands and pushed down the lever with him...I love her.  I love her so much.  That she took his burden on herself, stood by his side and shared in the decision and pushed it down with him so he did not have to shoulder it alone...  I don't think I've ever loved a character so much in ages.  Her compassion in that moment was brilliant.  She shone.  And the writing was fab.

I love Donna!  I love that she convinced him to go back and save that one family.  That "Come with me" just utterly gave me chills.  It was brilliantly written, acted, and brought to the screen.  Oh, and the repeat of the 'Armless line from the episode Rose when he broke the stone arm off the guy just like when the Ninth Doctor had the auton mannequin's arm.  There are so many reflections going on in this episode.

I loved the "I am Spartacus" from the Doctor and the "So am I" and then the "We aren't married."  And the whole brother and sister, you look alike thing.  Having seen the preview from the next episode where they are referred to as Doctor and Mrs. Noble and they both vehemently deny being married again, I think this will be a running gag through the whole series.  Which I am looking forward to, as it's funny so far.  RTD is very determined it seems for no romantic lines to be drawn this season.  Good, too, I'd like to see the whole brother and sister relationship thing be carried through, myself.  Not that Donna wouldn't be a good match for him romantically, she very well could be, but you know my heart is on the Doc/Rose ship forever.  But when I write them, it's always with that big sister/annoying little brother vibe, where they do love, need, and depend on each other but as amazingly good mates who get on each other's nerves a lot.  And that's how I want to see them.

I know the episode was heavy with seriousness, but I also loved all the humor that was put into it.  Last season was so very, very dark and I love that they are bringing back the humor and the joy and the happiness just to be alive to the Doctor again.  Donna is so very good for him.  I knew she would be and I wish so much that she'd been there last season.  I like Martha.  I do.  But what they did to her character was so very, very wrong.  And what they could have done with Donna after Rose was gone would have made things so much better for the Doctor.  I don't know, maybe he had to go through what he went through, but...I didn't like so much of last season because of it.  It wasn't fair to Freema and it wasn't fair to the fans.

Oh, and that one line the seer said, "She is returning."  I know that is a Rose reference.  I think the whole Bad Wolf/Torchwood/Saxon thing they did for seasons one, two, and three, is simply going to be Rose references or appearances in each episode this season.  And I love that it is she is returning.  Not that she has returned.  Like it's a process.  It goes well with how she faded out as she walked away.  She has not found a stable way to return yet, but she is working on it.  That's what I think anyway.  I've been very careful to stay away from spoilers so this may be already out there being discussed, but it's still my opinion.

I agree. I think the whole season might be built upon similar lines. Seeing the Ood again next week has got to bring memories of Rose back for the Doctor. Have you seen the confidential that goes with it? They showed the plaster casts of some of the bodies and it just feels awful looking at them. The expression on David Tennant's face as he viewed them just made me want to reach out and comfort him. You could tell it was really affecting him.

I haven't seen the confidential...Where's it at? I love the Confidentials! They let me be behind the scenes and let's me fulfill my wish of being a part of the action. Then again, I wished I was a fly on the wall during the making of Star Trek, Man from Atlantis, The Phoenix, Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel, and gracious, so much more I was a fan of. Oh, well. As for David, I can believe he'd be empathatic (sp?), he was voted the nicest guy in the UK. That's prestigious just by itself. Did he break up with the blonde girl, "Girl in the Fireplace?" Oh shoot! I can't remember her--oh, wait, Sophia Myles! That's it! I'd read they were romantically involved, then lo and behold, she's on American TV using an American accent in that show about a vampire! I always wondered....
