Chapter Eight of That Which One Cannot Do Without is looking like it is coming up on 4500 to possibly 5000 words.  I may need to make a chapter nine.  It'll end with nine if I do, but if I post them as two separate chapters I'd have to break right before the smut because that is the natural stopping place.  I'd post 8 today and 9 tomorrow, so it woudn't be a long wait.  Is a 5000 word chapter too long?  Most in this story are 2000-2500 words long.  If I keep it one chapter I won't post until tomorrow.  Thoughts?

I don't have any thought. My head is empty. *grins*
My vote would be one long chapter. I don't think that 5000 words is too long, personally. But then, I am just a rabid, impatient fan.

Well, rabid, impatient fan, what would be ch. 8 is sitting in your inbox. That might help you to help me make that decision. I'm over 1000 words into the second part and it's going...well.

I am so not the person to answer this sort of question, because I have been known to pull up finished super-multi-chapter stories or wips (*cough*a place in time*cough*zeppelins*cough*) on teaspoon and sit & read it in one long go whilst knitting, but that doesn't seem too long of a chapter to me.
and ending TWOCDW with 9 chapters...*giggles* 9....hee!

I'm gonna vote one long chapter tomorrow. :) That way we can get build up with the first half of it, and we won't have to wait again for the end. Ehehehe I'm so excited! :D

As much as I'm *dying* to read the entire thing, chapters with more than 3000 words tend to make my eyes go all cross-y. I've got nearly two dozen fics open in my browser at home that I'm trying to read unsuccessfully because the chapters are too long and I can't finish a single chapter in one go.

Whatever you wish. I'm just glad you're writing. I enjoy your stories.

My two cents thrown into the mix. hahaha

Write more. Post soon. Ugh. Ugh. Need story fix soon or I will spontaneously combust from anticipation. *hits refresh obsessively* Is it tomorrow yet? ;)

I'll be happy whatever you decide, but 5000 words isn't too long - especially when it's one of your fics and there's smut involved!!!!!!

Long chapters are better than short chapters. My chapters always hover around 4,000-5,000 words, so that's my own benchmark.

We've been waiting seven chapters for the smut!

*moans and whines theatrically*

I don't know about anyone else, but I'm going into serious amberfocus withdrawal here.

One chapter...who cares how long it is...just bring it on!!!!!

Either way is fine by me. I don't think 5000 words is too long for one chapter. But sooner posting is definitely a plus. :)

I'm not sure you could possibly write a chapter that I felt was too long. On the other hand, if splitting it up give us something to read sooner I'm ok with that too.
