A/N:  Happy Birthday, NattieB.  Set early in season one.

 

They’re standing on a precipice overlooking a deep crevasse. Rose leans out far over the side. The Doctor holds her by one wrist, the only thing keeping her from falling to the canyon floor. She shouts out her glee while watching ribbons of blue and red light weave through the air beneath her. He marvels at the miracle that she already trusts him this much, that she allows him to hold her life in his hands without a second thought. He smiles then, thinking that maybe it’s not. After all, he’s already allowing her to hold his hearts in hers.
