It's been hailing, sleeting, and snowing all week, but until sometime last night it wasn't sticking. We woke up to 4 inches of snow and by the time we left for the soccer park we had 6. In the first three miles between our house and our destination there were 3 different sets of flares and five different cars off the side of the road. We have a lot of S curves in that section of highway, which causes a lot of bad accidents when conditions are dry and clear. People take them too fast then, they should know better when it's like this.
And I'm sorry, but if you live in the foothills, you really ought to know how to drive in the snow. Really, really. That doesn't mean five miles an hour with your foot on the brake, nor does it mean 60 miles per hour in a 45. Or tailgating. Honestly. There is a happy medium and when the road is plowed it's a far cry from when it isn't. And your brakes don't work the same way. And you need to steer into a skid. Learn it, live it, do it people. *growls*
Remember how I said that snow is the only thing that calls a soccer game around here? Apparently not anymore. I honestly did not expect for there to be snow at the soccer park. It's 25 miles away from our house and if anything it should have just been raining. Wasn't. You could barely see the lines on the fields, but barely was good enough. Tobias' game was first and he really wanted to play but by the time we were done with it we all decided, with Rose saying it first, that she was not going to play her game in that weather and if they didn't have the good sense to call the game after 3 inches of snow had fallen in the past hour, then she was calling herself out of it. I would have made the choice anyway, but I was glad I didn't have to disappoint her in it. Honestly, I love soccer and watching them play, but it's not worth having the kids home sick all week over.
It does seem to have finally stopped. The sun is coming in from the skylight even. Nine inches total and it could be starting to melt. About three hours of daylight left and then everything will probably be half melted and freeze solid. Yikes. Ice driving tomorrow.
My kids are spending the night at my mother's tonight, since my sister's youngest three boys are down for the day and then my other sister's eldest child is coming for a visit on Sunday, so they wanted to spend some time with their cousins and I wanted to come home and be sick with this lovely cold I seem to have caught sitting in the snow with my rain poncho and umbrella. Well, I've been fighting it all week, but now it's won. Before I came home I picked up a gallon of egg flower soup from my favorite no-MSG Chinese place. It should help some with the congestion, it usually does.
I finally got to see Torchwood - Fragments last night. My second source had finally uploaded it. I didn't get to my first source soon enough before she'd taken it back down, darn it. She doesn't keep it up for more than a day or two because if she gets caught they make her take it down anyway. I was kind of underwhelmed with it, though. I mean, it was interesting but it all felt like back story. Not story story. I suppose it's setting the scene for the finale.
Okay, so that's all my whining out of the way. I am trying to get a good idea of what Davin McBain, Rose's ex-boyfriend from Hunger Moon should look like into my head. He's supposed to be very pretty and sexy. So far these are the choices I'm considering just to get the image right in my head. First up is actor Michael Fassbender who played Azazeal on Hex. Maybe a little too old.

Next we go hot and blond for this guy, just some random model I found.

But I think he might be a little young looking. He's only 25 and Davin is early 30's. Third is another random model. I think I'm leaning towards this one most, with Michael Fassbender second. Thing is, I've only got two shots of this model and it's easy to find photos of MF. I don't suppose I need more than one icon of the guy anyway, but still...I dunno.

To me this one seems more age-appropriate for Rose. And I do think when I picture Davin in my mind he's got dark hair and vivid eyes. Kind of rugged and pretty at the same time. What think you? Which one is best? Which one can you picture this version of Rose having been attracted to enough that she'd possibly have married him if the Doctor hadn't come along?

I'd look up his name right now, but I'm experiencing weird network connectivity problems here, and LiveJournal is about the only website I can get to load consistently.Adrian Pasdar (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0664499/).
