So the publishing house that I used to work for as a novel editor, and still do some freelance writing for (mostly things for the company magazine, excerpts for the national magazine, and press releases), sent me a packet yesterday.  I had to write a press release on a slander case that has been lodged by one of their authors against someone else.  I think it's going to turn quite bitter.  I totally understand where the author is coming from, though.  I'm a firm believer that people should be held responsible for the words they say, especially when they are nasty, hurtful and patently untrue.  This particular person has gotten away with things on various different levels for years, but she definitely crossed a legal line and is still refusing to admit she did anything wrong and has the money to drag out the court case even though everyone is advising her to give it up because she can't win.  The publishing house is firmly behind their author and is giving full monetary support.  It'll be interesting to see how it plays out.

Oh, and Selby called me today.  He wants to know if I ever finished writing the book he read the first half of.  The answer is no, of course.  I was going to during NaNo but then life went to hell for a bit and I didn't do NaNo.  He showed it to Eric and Eric wants me to finish it.  Yeah, maybe this summer once we're done doing homeschooling for the school year I might be able to do that.  I just can't believe it.  Eric's a really good agent.  Just wish I had the incentive to write it now.

Oh, so jealous! To already have an agent for a book... I'm trying to find one at the moment it's been... well, not discouraging. Just... resoundingly silent. Point being: You should get on it! If you can get paid for the fabulousness that is your writing, why not?

Well, he just wants to look at it when it's done. That's a far cry from having an agent. There's like 600 million steps between them, but it is still lovely. Just very nerve-wracking because it makes all of this just that little bit more real. I"m sure you will find something for your novel. You are a fantastic writer.

Well you ever get it written you better tell us so we can all run out and get it! Heaven knows most of us are addicted to your writing and it would be nice to be able to subsidize your writing time by doing a book purchase.

Well, the story will have to eventually. It does have a planned ending. But the series will continue in A Sky Without Stars.

*laughs* Of course I can finish Zeppelins first. I'll finish Zeppelins before summer and that's likely when I'll start working on the second half of my novel.

*is insanely jealous* I wish I had an agent for my book! *sighs* All my friends say it's one of the best they've ever read (and they all read a lot).

But, you should get writing. A book by you would be a great asset to my collection.

Wow, that's cool! The interest in your book, I mean, not the slander case. Though, as an attorney, I have to admit the slander case is interesting as well, though definitely not cool.

Thank you. Yeah, the case should be interesting if the woman doesn't back down.
