She was gone. She’d offered him everything. He had found a place of respite in her arms. She had quieted the screaming in his head of a thousand worlds burning. She had shown him a better way of living. She’d taught him to smile, to laugh, to dream again. She had smiled at him and held his hand, stopped him when he might have gone too far, and encouraged him when he might not go far enough. She was his compass and without her he didn’t know if he’d ever find true North again. Without her he couldn’t be forgiven.
