On a Roll!

I'm still on my roll. My goodness, I wrote most of the rough draft of the birthday smut fic last night and finished it up this morning. It's 3337 words long and I'm using a very intense writing style for it. I like it quite a bit. I have until the nineteenth to polish it up and love it. *grins* I shipped it off to Amy for opinions and whatnot.

I also wrote more on Hunger Moon, the next chapter is at 1618 words. I'm getting a bit more heavily into the plot and there likely won't be smut in this chapter unless alt!Nine and Rose just decide they can't keep their hands off each other, which of course they may just get it into their heads to do. They do that. A lot.

And I added 309 words to Innocent as Sin. I'm really not quite sure where that fic is going at the moment. It's another experimental writing style piece switching back and forth in perspective in little vignettes. If I decide I don't like it I can always rework it into something more like my normal style. That's easy enough to do.

The kids have their dance classes today, so hopefully that means I can finish up Hunger Moon tonight. I'd like to add anywhere from 1000 to 1500 words or so, make the chapter a bit longer so the next one can be a full smut chapter. No promises of course, but it's coming along.

It's nice to see people on my f-list writing. Personally, I'm beginning to wonder if I ever will again (okay, perhaps overly dramatic...). Ideas are there, but I open Word and nothing happens. I've even tried handwriting to see if that would shift something into gear. 2 months I've written nothing. Very frustrating.

Perhaps you shouldn't try to write anything in particular, just type some stream of consciousness, gobble-dee-gook, anything just to stop the page being so goldarn white! And then see if any of it makes sense. :)

You know, I had a horrible dry spell when my kids were very small. I barely wrote a thing, couldn't finish what I started and gave up all together for close to five years. Though I picked it up again about three and a half years ago, it wasn't until I started writing DW fanfic in Sept. of '07 that I became as passionate about it again as I used to be. Actually more so. I have never been so prolific in my life as I have been in the last almost year and a half. I really do think inspiration comes and goes in cycles. Sometimes the dry cycles are just really long.

Have you considered drabble writing? Just 100 words, the best 100 words, a single, simple paragraph have been enough to fire my muse when I've been staring at an utterly blank screen.

I'm ashamed now that I can't even finish ONE fic, and you've got all this amazing work going on! I used to be quite the prolific writer when I was younger, and now I just can't make myself sit down long enough to write in my journal, let alone write a story and edit it and stuff!

You have my highest commendations! I'm so pleased that you bless us all with your fics. Thanks for that.

As I said above, I went through a five year dry spell. Inspiration really does come and go in cycles. Maybe it's just not your time right now to write, maybe it's your time to read and absorb. I always considering reading part of my writing skill set. The more I read, the more I learn about how other people tell a story, the more I learn about what works and what doesn't work for me. Hang in there. And thank you.

Yeah, because it's for you and you know it. *laughs* It's probably gonna end up being closer to 4000 words before I finish the final draft. And Amy says it's very intense and hot. *grins*

Although I'm nowhere near your league (having several plots on the go at once) I did manage to write 1400 words to finish Chapter 11 of Heartsick and have a long MSN chat with caraskye about a possible new series in 3 hours last night.

So I agree. When it comes it comes in buckets. It's when it doesn't come that I feel sort of anxious. It's like waiting for something bad to happen - like never having another idea again. What if this is the only story I ever write. *starts rocking in her chair* Oh ho Time for Limited edition Caramel Cookie Hagen Daz me thinks! lol

Cool. Isn't it great having a beta you can toss ideas around with in real time? I mean, Victoria is great with all the proofing and stuff she's done for me, but Amy is worth her weight in gold. I've thrown more ideas at her than she can catch but she's very good at focusing my thoughts for me.

It won't be the only story you ever write. You know, even in my prolific phase, which is now and the last year and almost a half, I do have downturns. I'll go ten days or so without writing anything significant at all. It rests my brain and I find I need it It just doesn't always seem like that because I've got some prepared stuff in the wings usually that I can whip out during the dry spells.

Lucky. The story I'm writing right now had Donna in it, and she's being most uncoopertive. She claims she's bored. Wish I had something for her. She's really had to put up with a lot recently.

Fancy playing with her or something? Just send her back when you're done.

No way! As soon as I get my hands on her, she's mine forever! XD

Poor Donna. Anyway you can put her in cahoots with Jackie Tyler. I swear those two would be two peas in a pod if they ever got near each other.
