I Feel Light-Headed

I bit the bullet and got my hair cut today. It totally changed the color of my hair as he cut off all the top stuff that was colored by the sun by putting in layers and all that is left is the stuff that was underneath and darker. It is weird to have it this dark. It's always been more of a medium auburn brown. You can still see the red in it, but now it's more of a dark brown. I may actually go get a box of hair dye to have it back more towards normal, or at least what used to be normal.



My hair weighed slightly over a pound. I can't even believe it, but I saw it. Hopefully this will help with the headaches. I really like it but it will take some getting used to. He took 14 inches to start. Someone will have a nice wig.

Your hair has a lot of highlight. It appears to be a rich dark auburn. Right after I got my hair cut I felt naked - as if I'd forgotten to put on a top - and my neck and shoulder did feel as if a weight were off, and the wind felt a lot stronger and colder than it had before the haircut.

Yep, it has lots of colors mixed in, all natural. When I was a kid, I called it my chameleon hair since it had auburn, blonde, gold, red, ash streaks, and brown in it, though auburn dominated. Now it is just brown, dark auburn, gray and has ash streaks (family trait). No gold or blonde. Although when I was very, very little it was golden blonde.

Shiny! Give it a few days to, er, grow on you. It's a really beautiful color. People thought I'd colored mine when I first got it cut, too. I had (golden brown just a shade or two off my natural ash brown), but the color had been applied well before I got the cut. It just looked darker without the fluffy outer layer.

Yeah, I'll let it settle in for a while. It's not nearly as dark in the front as it is in the back, either, since I have ash blonde streaks at my temples (family trait), gray in my bangs, and a bit of auburn still along my face.

I do like it. It's weird adjusting to it, like not having to pull it out of the collar of my coat, but I'll get used to that.

Looks great! If you do decide to dye it, wait for a bit. Having JUST dyed it you can fry it is you start to strip it too soon or too fast. I know from experience :-/

I didn't dye it. I haven't dyed my hair in years. It just looks like it changed color because he cut off all the sun-bleached auburn tones.
