I am one week post-surgery.  Successfully taking a shower by myself (well, with only the help of the shower chair) should not be such cause for joy, but I tell you, I practically heard trumpets doing a fanfare that I was able to do that (and wash my hair twice plus condition).  All without falling down.  My new shower chair is teal.  It is very pretty.  Much better than those old white ones.  I have gone 50 hours now without throwing up, too.  Hey, it's the little things in life, you know.

Last night I was able to eat a piece of chicken, potatoes, and green beans.  Today I am trying for pizza.  A mild one, I am not crazy enough to do pepperoni or sausage, just plain ham and cheese.  I am sick of soft food.  I am sick of liquidy food.  Though I did find a nice recipe on youtube for how to make Egg flower soup.  It looks good, sounds good, and will cost less than the $25 or so we shell out for 15 cups.  I hope it is very similar in flavor because it is so simple to make.  I will leave out the one tbsp of Sherry though because of T's allergies.  But I've never seen a recipe for this soup that included sherry before, so it won't matter, likely.

I went for a walk yesterday.  Just around the back yard.  I went barefoot so I could put my toes in the grass.  That just...I don't even know how to describe what it is to walk barefoot in two inch high, thick grass.  It's amazing after being cooped up.  I saw the chickens.  The two babies that survived have grown so much.  The white one is now as big as the red one and the golden one still has some growing to do for that, but she is getting big.  The black one is still biggest, but the red one is definitely the head of the pecking order.  It'll likely be September before the new ones start laying eggs though.

DH picked me some fresh blackberries since I was barefoot, while Tobias (who was delighted to come with us on our little walk) picked some raspberries.  We saw a little garden snake.  Oh, and I smelled the roses.  Yellow and peach ones.  The blueberry bushes are loaded.  I can't wait until they turn blue in a few weeks.

I think I will walk outside again today.  Maybe sit on the porch swing and hold one of the older chickens.  They like to sit with me and they are so cute, they talk to me like we know the same language or something.
