Chapter Twenty-four: Good-bye Torchwood
“Can I ask you one thing?” The Doctor’s voice was hesitant. It was morning and they’d spent the last hour just lying snuggled up together, passing gentle kisses back and forth, his hand tangled in her hair, hers stroking his skin. “If you know it?”
“About…last night?” She turned about in his arms to look at him with those beautiful molten copper eyes of hers. He stroked the strands of gold out of her face.

Chapter Twenty-Three: Brought to Light
Rose woke herself screaming. She sat up in bed, the unfamiliar sensation of two hearts thumping rapidly in her chest. The Doctor’s arms went around her immediately. “What is it, Rose?” his voice asked close to her ear as the lights came up dimly.
“You fell,” she said panting. “You fell into the Void. And I…?” She shook her head. “I couldn’t stand to live without you and so I let go. I followed you into the Void. I let myself die. Doctor, it felt so real.”

Chapter Twenty-Three: Brought to Light
Rose woke herself screaming. She sat up in bed, the unfamiliar sensation of two hearts thumping rapidly in her chest. The Doctor’s arms went around her immediately. “What is it, Rose?” his voice asked close to her ear as the lights came up dimly.
“You fell,” she said panting. “You fell into the Void. And I…?” She shook her head. “I couldn’t stand to live without you and so I let go. I followed you into the Void. I let myself die. Doctor, it felt so real.”

Chapter Twenty-one: Compatibility
“Jack,” the Doctor yelled out, “Jack!”
Jack appeared so fast at the Doctor’s shout he might well have teleported if the Doctor hadn’t destroyed that device months ago. “Rose?” His voice turned the Doctor’s hearts over.
“She’s alive. Is Martha here yet? I’ll even take Owen in a pinch. I kept meaning to fix that circuit in the infirmary, but I’m having a time finding the parts for it and--.” The Doctor snapped his mouth shut, realizing he was babbling.

Chapter Twenty-one: Compatibility
“Jack,” the Doctor yelled out, “Jack!”
Jack appeared so fast at the Doctor’s shout he might well have teleported if the Doctor hadn’t destroyed that device months ago. “Rose?” His voice turned the Doctor’s hearts over.

And it wasn't her Doctor she looked at, was not him she had questioned. It was another. “I’m sorry,” said the too familiar man Rose had handed the album to. He took it, set it down on the console, his eyes never leaving her face. “I’m so sorry, Rose. I had to do it. I had to.” The Doctor felt panic grip him at the familiarity of that voice, his own voice coming from this man with his face. “And it burns.”

Chapter Nineteen: Future Echoes
“I don’t feel sick,” Rose insisted. “I feel fine. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with me.”
“You’re glowing yellow, Rose and that’s not normal.” He put on his glasses and stared at her intently.
“Maybe this is what happens when a Time Lord and a human have sex,” she said hopefully.
“Trust me, it’s not.”
